| What are the major differences? |
| So many differences. Please do some basic research and try again. |
| CM is more conservative and excels at political science and economics. Pomona is more diverse and more progressive. Most students apply to one or the other - there’s not a lot of crossover due to their differences. |
This. |
Or let your kid do the research and decide. You're not the one going to college. DCUM parents often forget that. |
You again? |
Exactly. The one on a site researching schools for their kid. |
|
Both are overrated, according to those in the know - #12 and #18 respectively, in terms of their faculty and alum influence.

I don't know. My kid has researched them, and the differences are not things that matter to him. There are significant things he likes about each. |
Overrated when they are both in the top 20? I don't think you know 1) how many colleges there are or 2) what overrated means |
|
Pomona has by far the more beautiful campus; Pomona is more liberal but that's not to say CMC is conservative. CMC is excellent for Political Studies. Pomona is excellent for everything.
Excellent schools. Can't go wrong unless you're a super hippie-where you might be a better fit for Pitzer. |
Swing and a miss. |
Hardly “by far.” CMC has some great buildings. It’s a southern CA campus, not some simulacrum of some transplanted Northeastern slac. CMC is a conventionally liberal school now. Keep up. |

Who is this insane poster, really? There is a person who keeps posting rankings of things like "most faculty and alum influence", and "most winners of X prize." I and every other parent I know can't imagine giving a sh!t about inane things like this. "Faculty and alum influence" for God's sake. What an absolutely stupid thing to compile a list of. I can't imagine trying to direct my kids to a school based on something that utterly idiotic. |
