Anyone pulling their kid from YY for this hybrid fiasco

Anonymous
Who is are pulling their kid(s) out? I'm not eligible for hybrid and not thrilled we're going to get our 4th different teacher when hybrid rolls out.

I'd blame your school for that, not DCPS. My child changed teachers once, not 4x.

Totally. Hybrid mess is not on DCPS. I mean YY is sort of damned if they do so I feel for them. It's very hard for the teachers and administrators. But it's hard for the kids too.

How exactly would they go about blacklisting you?

They do but it is strictly by common lottery number and is audited. The schools do not determine your number and they cannot skip. Surely you don't think YY somehow selected you personally for your wonderfulness, right?

They’re not going to blacklist you (how ridiculous) but I don’t think any of the other schools/district you list has fully opened either, so the grass may just look greener.

Fellow YY parent here. I think they are doing a good job in a bad situation. YY is an exceptional school.

Did you select in-person back in October?

Not our experience where teaching academic subjects or Chinese is concerned, either in-person or DL. No homework policy for upper grades doesn't impress. The specials might be exceptional. The hybrid plan is seriously lame.

The head of school's inability to speak Chinese and connect with the Chinese community has made DL so much more difficult than it would have been otherwise.

How? YY has thrived for 12 years with any real connection to the DC Chinese community. SErious question.
