LMAO. Seems like we’d have to offer tax incentives to get the Norwegians to come here.

https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/compare_countries_result.jsp?country1=Norway&country2=United+States

The tax rate is much higher in Norway and a much higher cost of living to begin with means it will be harder to stretch your wages even though after tax wages are similar.

In summary:
Consumer Prices in United States are 35.22% lower than in Norway
Consumer Prices Including Rent in United States are 27.61% lower than in Norway
Housing Prices in United States are 45.87% lower than in Norway
Restaurant Prices in United States are 43.53% lower than in Norway
Groceries Prices in United States are 29.94% lower than in Norway
Automobile prices in United States are 38.26% lower than in Norway
Local Purchasing Power in United States is 32.32% higher than in Norway

And yet they don't come.

Maybe there is more to life than owning stuff. Maybe having a big car and a big house and a big tv is not what really makes people happy.

But it was such a different time. We are done building now.

Wrong. We still need cheap labor and all of the rust belt is useless. Lazy entitled and addicted.

Wow. Those are hardworking Americans you are disparaging. It’s not their fault the immigrants are taking all their jobs. What a liberal elitist you are.

Oh, I'm no liberal. I'm a National Review type Republican who thinks people should move to where the jobs are and work hard instead of whining in Kentucky about the fact immigrants work harder than them.

WTF. I have an idea: stop the people from running drugs South of the Border. Don’t worry about the rest: Trump’s got this. Have a nice day.

They get their drugs from pill mills, don't you read?

I'm not sure why you posted this but I'll infer that you want everyone to believe Nigeria is in fact a terrible country to live in. I'm not sure why present day people are getting so much satisfaction out of "America is the best" status. What exactly have you done that contributed to the fact that the US is a wealthy and powerful country? Probably not much. And don't say your ancestors because if they're accused of harming POC, your excuse is that it was a long time ago don't blame me. What exactly is there to be proud of other than the circumstance of your birth?[/quote

I guess the Italians are to blame for all of Europe's problems then because the Romans held slaves 2000 years ago....

Is that the furthest back in time your fancy education takes you? Adorable.

Ok, then by that criteria, women are to blame for all the worlds problems because of ..... original sin.

Which appears to be what you are inferring if you are of European origin.

That was not the point.

He was saying why allow the people from these countries to come here.

You know, like your ancestors did, for a better life. Their country being poor does not make them unworthy.

He also said that he would be ok with Norwegians coming here. Why?

Ok but he is right their hometown is horrible. We are not a charity and why don't they stay in their hometown and work to make it better? Again we are not a charity.

If you could time travel, would you say the same thing to your ancestors who immigrated to the US?

I am first generation and my great grandma worked hard as a single mom in her country to become wealthy. My parents then came to the US LEGALLY not for a better life bc they were rich in their home countries. I am first gen Hispanic american and a trump voter.

You realize the majority of immigrants who have come to this country have been poor, right?

Right now the Norweign Sovereign Wealth fund (derived from Oil exploitation) falters they will.

I'm no fan of consumerism, but paying 2.5x for a bottle of milk is pretty crazy.

My family came here outside of any legal system to found a colony in the 1600s in MA. Fuck all y'all slamming the door behind you.

No offense, but the Pilgrims were the most intolerant assh*les of their day. So much so that they were tossed out of England.

Point being the idea of “legal” immigration is relatively recent in the history of America

Of course not offended

Nicholas Kristof wrote great editorial today about a kid from a poor family who immigrated from Ghana. He eventually graduated high school, joined the army and when he was on vacation, there was a fire in an apartment where his family lives. He easily escaped and went back in and saved 3 people he didn’t know from the fire. The building collapsed on him as he returned to rescue a 4th person and he died. Tell me again about why we don’t want immigrants from these shithole countries?

>de facto open borders
>welfare state

Pick one - you can't have both. There was no welfare state when my Russian Jew ancestors came here. There was barely a k-12 public school system!

The macroeconomic view works for you when your family doesn’t live in an area impacted by the concessions made by National Review types. I mean that from the bottom of my Rust Belt based education which makes us tough as nails.

Look at Dominion Republic - same people, same nation, and they are thriving. Haiti on the other hand is a shithole, Trump is right. Unreal level of corruption and crime, poverty + earthquake that devastated already struggling country.

Who helped Haiti to remain a shithole after the earthquake? That's right, Hillary Clinton and her hubby. She collected $500 million dollars dedicated to Haiti disaster recovery through her phony foundation and what people of Haiti received? Next to zilch.
How many houses did she build? Where is the hospital that she promised to build? People of Haiti know very well that she stole from them.
And she has guts to Tweet about the earthquake. Better tell us where is the Haitian money, not-a-racist Hilly? Chelsea's $3 m wedding and XXXX m condo, what else did you buy?
