Somewhere in this discussion, someone said that the "sovereign citizen" movement was a purely White racist movement. This is not true. There are many Blacks who also claim to be "sovereign citizens." The most prominent group is the Moorish Science Temple, but there are many others. I argued many cases against them, usually about their refusal to pay taxes because they say that they are not subject to American laws. Probably the most interesting case I had dealt with a White couple who came home after a trip and found their locks had been changed. They called the police, who broke in and arrested a Black man and wife who had claimed that they had the right to occupy White people's homes because their sovereignty predates that of Whites. I represented the police whom the people who were arrested sued, claiming that the police had unlawfully entered "a state of Moorish affairs."

I don't think anyone said "purely white racist movement" - they were referring to it as a brand of right wing extremism. And even though these particular people are black, the notions of not paying taxes and holding up whatever "natural law" notions is pretty typical across right wing circles.

I am white but not of British descent. I do not identify with Ye olde Days.

I am not of british descent, and I enjoy ren faires. But they arent really pride things. Highland games, though, maybe are.

There's a pretty huge difference between celebrating one's own culture (highland games) versus putting other cultures down (white nationalism).
Please, let's not equate these.

In the context of "white nationalism," you will often hear "white nationalists" talk about how they built this country, that they are responsible for all innovation and building of capital in this country (i.e. that blacks, hispanics, women and other ethnicities did not make any significant or substantial contributions), how this country was founded and built due only to white europeans, and how "whites" want only to hold on to what they have (never mind that much of it was acquired on the backs of subjugated minorities and women).

This is the meaning of "nationalism" in white nationalism.

It doesn't align at all with historical reality. And, it is definitely about putting other races down in order to maintain the pre-eminence of whites.

I predict the charges against Fields will be escalated, and he could be charged with capital murder. In Virginia, killing someone during an act or attempted act of terrorism is a capital offense. When charges were initially filed, it wasn't known if his acts were considered domestic terrorism. But now it's headed in that direction
