It is truly awful. I have watched the show. I truly like the family and they have a right to live their lives how they see fit. They are not judgmental and they have never claimed to be perfect. They seem to be kind. The parents handled this difficult issue the best way they knew how. I agree with Matt Walsh that there were no perfect solutions to this problem. How would any of us have acted in this situation? They were the parents of the offender plus the victims so they should have had a big say in how to deal with the issue.

I think the parents are responsible, caring, thoughtful parents. they reached out for guidance and counsel. they did not sweep this under the rug.

I am tired of the judgmental vicious attacks. So many so-called open minded liberals are completely judgmental about Christians.

And yet, if someone makes fun of the Jewish religion and criticizes the shameful stupidity that is Zionism, they are quickly attacked as being an anti-semite.

Only Politically Correct Libards are allowed to attack people for their religion. Who are the true hypocrites? The zealots who are attacking the Duggars vicously.

"They are not judgmental and they have never claimed to be perfect."
They have a right to their opinions and views. But don't claim they are not judgmental. They have repeatedly expressed their opposition to LGBT cprople, abortion, and other issues. They have judged others, quite publicly.

"I think the parents are responsible, caring, thoughtful parents. they reached out for guidance and counsel. they did not sweep this under the rug."
Seriously? Molesting 5 girls is treated with a stern talking to, and helping a family friend do construction? How did that actually counsel Josh? And their sexual abuse counseling for the girls actually blamed them for their brothers behavior. As far as sweeping, Jim bob would not let Josh be Questioned about it in 2006. How is that not sweeping it under the rug?

Let's be clear - I am not attacking the Duggars for their lifestyle or world views. They have every right to live the way they want to - except for allowing Josh to molest his sisters and teaching the girls it was their fault.

Your assumption that the Duggars would blame the victims is way out of line. There is no evidence that this happened. It is a horrific assumption and you are making it because you are a a judgmental "liberal" who hates fundamental Christians. YOU HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA.

FUCK YOU.

Unfortunately, we do have an idea.

Clearly, we need to STOP calling them Christians, and START calling them what they are: Quiverfuls.

Ok?

The Duggars are not hypocrites. They have said that Joshua's actions were completely wrong and they sought help.

A hypocrite is a Congressman who is opposed to Gay rights but is secretly a homosexual.

Get it?

Not quite but good try. A hypocrite is someone that says trans people are a danger to our children knowing you have someone that is a danger to our children and theirs in their own home.

Maybe you should ask yourself why there is such latent dislike in the culture for fundamentalist Christians. And if you're clueless, it's because they go around advocating discrimination against or outright terrorizing people whose behavior, lifestyle or nature they disapprove of.
Last I checked, nobody hates the Amish, since they mind their own business.
Learn to live and let live and mind your own business; respect the separation of church and state that's enshrined in our laws, and people won't fall on you like a ton of bricks when it turns out you live in a glass house.
Organized Christianity has been losing adherents in the past decade to the tune of 1% a year and will probably continue to do so until you learn tolerance.

You have no idea how the Juvenile Justice system or social services works in most states. This is what would happen - Josh would be removed from the family for a while and get counseling. This is what happened to him anyhow.

He was 14 not 18. Big Difference. He would not have been locked up for life. Who cares that he received Christian counseling instead of secular counseling? He would have received the same information/counsel: Don't do this. It is wrong. It is harmful. There are not many different ways of telling him this. It is not rocket science. Someone with a PhD is not going to do very much differently than a pastor. This is the truth.

Please read this.

There is every reason to believe that the Duggars would blame the victims.

did you read the Duggars' statement? They blamed Josh entirely and they also blamed themselves. The wrote that they thought they had taught him right from wrong (but they failed.)

This is what is wrong with you haters --- you make assumptions.

Don't try to reason with these people, they don't care if they are right or wrong, they just want to keep arguing about the duggars being hypocrites. You'll never change their minds, because they're so close minded. Liberals are the biggest hypocrites out there. Every thing they say they are, they are the opposite of.

Sometimes your kids choose to do wrong. But most of us here don't much care about you and your kid. You're not on tv.
