For those of us who have a sub 3% rate, that is not smart financially. We invest our money instead. |
What will actually happen if it tanks is that umc ppl will move away and stop coming here, and then your taxes will go up. Way up. |
Why can’t you do both? That’s what we did. Paying off your house is life changing. So, you have the money, stop complaining. |
I'm not complaining. I am building up a healthy retirement fund. Are you envious? |
No, because we are doing the same thing except we own our house so that extra mortgage money can go in there too. Envious? It shouldn’t be one or the other. You need regular savings, investments, retirement and college funds. And, as soon as kids get jobs all their money goes into a Roth IRA. We don’t need their money so better off to save it too. |
Ok, it sounds like we are both happy with our finances. How wonderful for us. But no, it is not financially smart to pay off a low interest loan early. It may be something you want to do for other reasons. |
Option 1 seems the most reasonable to me. They should “refine” off that one. |
New Boundary Study that will “help” with Wheaton’s overcrowding shows:
Option #1: Wheaton [...] would then be above 100% capacity. Option #2: "All of the high schools would fall between 80% and 100% of enrollment capacity and the majority of the attendance zones would have contiguous boundaries, except for a small area of Wheaton’s attendance zone. " Option #3: "Wheaton would be slightly above 100% of capacity." Option #4: "Wheaton [...] would be at about 120% [of capacity]." https://bethesdamagazine....84YKnifJPw |
Most posters on this thread are oblivious to the needs of schools like Wheaton HS and were easily placated by the notion of adding more capacity at Edison. |
Omg the people competing about having the best finances to say who can claim progressive rights in saying they “actually” arent predatory capitalists..DCUM, never change. |
It is highly inadvisable for people to start their objections to these proposed boundaries with fears about their property values. It will not play out well with the MCPS decision makers or the media. If you don’t feel the inherent wrongness of these objections yourself, at least be practical and read the room and realize that these objections will not get you anywhere in a county that is majority minority and 50% FARMS. |
There is nothing predatory about living below your means |
There isn’t room as some of that land is rec department for a pool. They need another school in lower dcc. |
Yes it is because you are always at risk of job loss and other things. It’s stability. |
Guys, take this to the personal finance board please. It is very off-topic here but you can have a great discussion about it there with other interested people and see who they say is right. ![]() |
