Early Predictions 2028: AOC, Whitmer, Newsome or …?

Anonymous
Newsom doesn’t stand a chance. We need someone from the Midwest like Whitmer.

He is a leftist to the core, but he has the best chance of portraying himself as a moderate like Bill Clinton was in the 1990's. He is a more polished and smarter (but equally sleazy) version of Joe Biden. He's your best chance. if you go with an openly socialist candidate like AOC or a DEI candidate like Kamala Harris or Jasmine Crocket, you will get killed.
that's my advice, you can take it or leave it.

You may be right. But good of you to identify any female or person of color automatically as "DEI", which shows your appalling worldview.

Killed by what? With Trump being the very unpopular sitting POTUS in 2028, the 2028 GOP nominee will have the same baggage on the table as Trump did in 2020 and Harris did in 2024. Both Trump 2020 and Harris 2024 lost to relatively weak opponents due to the quick pendulum swing when there is a very unpopular sitting POTUS. The 2028 election will be more so determined by whether or not the GOP nominee can't present something that is a pivot away from the very unpopular sitting POTUS.

Regrettably I believe the first female president will be conservative.

I don’t think Newsome or AOC could win a national election. AOC’s long term political fate likely rests on the success or failure of Zohran Mamdani.

Taking gender out of it, Whitmer has been overly differential to Trump and therefore not viable. Her Midwest values might be her downfall, and AOC is way too far left. I agree with PP that Gavin is the best we’ve got at the moment. He’s got some rizz and won’t be pushed around by the GOP, but he is sleazy as others have noted.

Okay. Feel free to have Newsom and AOC as candidates. Good luck!!

High IQ doesn’t at all equal strong leadership. And our current president is lacking both, so there is that.

I don't care about strong leadership.

I care about not being a bonehead and promoting wars in Israel and Ukraine by having a disasterous withdrawal in Afghanistan, letting hardened criminals out prison in the name of social justice, not pushing skin color over merit through DEI/CRT/ESG, and letting millions of unvetted poverty cases pour in with the goal of "browning the country" to our detriment.

Learn some common f'n sense and stop being self-destructive, democrats.

Even A holes have opinions, so you can have yours, but my vote is going to leadership.

No women. And her Covid response has not aged well.

Also newsom understands how to use social media for clout, is handsome, a man, and has a beautiful wife. Thats all most of these low information voters are looking for.

Look at Trumps cabinet. It is still DEI for white men. Hegseth? RFK jr?

I still like Andy Beshear. Popular governor of a red state. Male. Won’t frighten moderates.

PP here, and I agree with you. I also liked Kelly for VP pick last go around, but I’m not sure he has the presence for President.

Well, Beshear better get it together soon. After this latest example of Democrats crumbling, all the energy is going to be with the AOC wing of the party. I don't think AOC is going to run, but Gavin Newsom is definitely moving to be the face of the resistance to Trump. The alternatives need to step up. So far it's Pritzker. Beshear does not seem ready for prime time.

At this moment in time, it's Newsom and Pritzker. Andy Beshear ain't happening. Too meek for the moment.
