Annoying message on Facebook from SIL

Anonymous
SIL messaged me on FB Messenger out of the blue saying she's joined Pampered Chef as a side job and tells me "please take a look" at their products. I described it as Avon for kitchen utensils to DH and he says we ought to buy something even though I say we don't need anything because "it's family". I'm annoyed that she's soliciting me and I regret sharing about this with DH! How to tell her that she's being duped and that what she's doing is gauche?

Sounds like you just don’t like her. Why?

Pampered Chef does have nice products. The few things I have from there have lasted forever.

I agree, I HATE being solicited for MLMs and don't buy 99.5% of the time, but I'd buy something by Pampered Chef from my SIL, and tell her I don't need anything else for my kitchen

I love Pampered Chef. Here is what you should buy:

Bar pan (have had mine for 12 years)
Brownie pan (your DH and ass will thank me)
Mix and Scrap spatula (it will complete you)

I hate MLMs with a passion but for your sil I would buy one (and only one!) thing. Give it away if you want.

I have no need for any of those and I hate buying stuff that we don't need. Her DH (brothers with mine) complains that SIL buys a lot of stuff that they cannot even clear the basement for a remodel. Plus she doesn't cook at home 80% of the time so I'm puzzled why she's into this initiative.

You do. I promise you.

She asked you once and you’re that upset? Supporting a family member is more important that whatever really has your panties in a bunch.

Get your DH to buy something from the catalog if you’re not interested and he wants to. My nephew asked us to buy cub scouts popcorn that was way expensive and his mom (my sil) made it seem like he was learning entrepreneurial skills or something. In reality, he was greedy for the prize they get based on sales. I proposed donating money instead but DH felt bad and bought a few bags of overpriced gross popcorn.

+1 OP, there is absolutely NO small kitchen item you need/could replace? All you baking sheets, peelers, zesters, choppers, measuring cups, etc. are tip top? Oh, and typical DCUM that you add the extra information when no one agrees with the OP.

Wow, if you want to ignore, just ignore. But her asking is not being rude or ridiculous. Just get one thing to be kind and call it a day. If you truly can't use anything, just get something for a gift. I recommend the silicone microwave popcorn maker for a gift. It is awesome for college students (and my high schoolers).

On principle, I don't buy anything from MLM, and look down on people who get tricked into that. So I would not reply anything at all, and would encourage your husband not to buy.

It says to me that she and her husband are probably having money troubles and she is trying to help.

I’d only go for what’s made in USA. Love the bar pans!
