Help please selling high end car!!!

Anonymous
I have a high end car my DH bought for me for my bday 4 yrs ago. I also have a daily driver suv. I never drive my high end car and it’s sitting in our garage collecting dust and losing value! I discussed it with my DH and he isn’t happy I want to sell it but I told him I’d rather have that money growing rather than dwindling day by day. He told me to use his friend to sell it but he charges 10% which would amount to about 10k. I think that’s too high and would rather sell it myself. I need advice of how to go about this since my DH isn’t really on board and doesn’t want to help me. He also mentioned a site called Bring a Trailer but that site seems shady. How do I make the most money without paying high commissions ?

When you say high end do you mean a late model 911 or a Ferrari F40? Answer is going to vary based off type of car.

2015 he paid 140k for. Blue book is 96k. I’d rather not say the model for privacy reasons but it’s gorgeous.

Why not just sell it Carmax?

Or at least check the price on Vroom

My god woman, sell with the friend. The market for high end cars is crazy thin, and I assume you are all madly wealthy since you are buying crazy cars, use the friends and toss the $10k his way. I assume that’s about the same amount you spend on a brunch weekend so what’s the ish?

Yes, we’ll track you down based on the Maserati make you have. If you want help, you need some specifics b/c a Hummer or 911 all have different markets.

High end car requires a high-end salesperson. Why are rich people so cheap?

Bring a trailer isn't shady but they are pretty picky about what they accept. Also, because it's auction-based you may end up with a lower price. But you can set a reserve. I tried to help my dad sell his Porsche there, but it wasn't in good enough condition so they didn't take it.

You can check past sales prices for your car make/model on the site if you're curious.

Obviously don't sell to Carmax!

PP here again - sounds like your DH is actually the one who wants the car?? Did he give it to you to justify it for himself? If so, just indulge him if you don't care about the money/can afford it

Ikr! Carmax. Smh . Anyway my car is in pristine condition and low miles. I just read terrible reviews on this company.

Call your local dealership and see if they will buy it.
