| Lol. Do you want horrible schools and roads too? |
| It should be the other way...if we aren't going to be a state, then no federal income taxes. |
| Good luck. |
| hahaahahahaa. Pretty sure they'd be a higher tax state |
| You're DELUSIONAL omg lolololol |
|
You write your (whatever they call councilmembers after statehood) and ask them, same as any other thing you want the legislature to do,
They're not going to listen to you, but that's what you do. |
| You can't be a no income tax state with the services DC provides - public transit, pre-K, even leaf pickup would be out of the question. |
I believe they mean federal income tax. I would like to stay a district and go for that. OP, a few mineral rich states (Wyoming, probably Alaska) don't collect state income tax, because they have enough income already to cover services. |
lol, no one is escaping federal income tax, and in no universe would DC forgo SALT taxes. Do you people not understand how blue states work? |
I would be fine to trade federal income tax for no statehood. We already get TONS of handouts from the Feds in DC. Just add it to the tab! This DC Statehood thing is so misguided. |
What handouts? I'm a federal taxpayer, too. States with no income taxes have: high property taxes, high sales taxes, and/or crappy public services. Which would you like? |
Because the Fed gov't is tax-exempt, they don't pay DC property tax. They own a huge amount of land/buildings, so they give DC some $$ to make up for it. |
Wait, that sounds like DC! |
| I love the commuter tax idea. |
