| In no way do I consider this acceptable but as I hear rumblings of it happening I’m wondering how common is it? |
| no way ma'am. I would be appalled if my teen was drinking. |
| I don't think it's the norm, but my current senior knew of a few classmates drinking in middle school (8th). I did forever ago, but I haven't admitted that to my DS, and I would not have been okay with it if he had. |
| Not at all the norm among my middle schooler. |
| Lots of kids try it I’m MS. I know of many. I don’t think it’s common but it happens. |
|
My kids didn't nor did any of their friends but they definitely heard of kids who did. Drugs were also present too in middle school. N. Arlington.
I don't think it's common but it does happen. |

Way more common than you think.

Trying drinking happens.
Actual drinking on a regular basis is a sign of a problem. |
| I could imagine some kids in my son's 8th grade class trying alcohol, but I haven't heard of any consistent drinking. My husband and I are both recovering alcoholics, so we've scared the bejeezuz out of our son about alcohol. |
| I tried it in 7th grade loooooonggg ago, but it was so disgusting I didn't want to touch it for years. I think trying is common but full-on drinking is definitely not. |
I agree with this (parent of two high schoolers) |
| Back in the 80s when I was growing up, a wealthy girl in a mansion threw a party with beer. Her parents stayed out of the way in a wing of the mansion. |
Very common. We just left MS ( A W MS) and my DC would tell me stories involving alcohol and drugs being used weekly. Vaping was occurring in the school bathrooms. Kids all know each there in MOCO and word gets around. Have drinking by MS's in Bethesda esp. this past Fall. Westland, Pyle, Tilden, North Bethesda, Silver Creek, Cabin John all have MS kids ding these things. It's very, very common. |
