I made a perfect sponge cake, with just eggs, sugar, flour and orange zest. This was my first attempt. Then soaked it in clementine juice-hard cider jelly and topped it with clementines softened in their juice. It’s moist in the center, slightly crunchy at the edge, and light and fruity. Not too sweet. You can’t taste any alcohol, it just gives it a bit of depth. And yet either DH nor my teens liked it. Ingrates. |
I would LOVE your cake, but it might be more for a ladies' luncheon? |
It happens! I would cut it into sections and freeze it for an occasional treat for myself. |
Omg it sounds amazing |
bring me your cake, I will totally eat it. |
I think tastes in dessert are very personal. I am impressed with your cake, but would probably not actually enjoy eating it. I’m sorry.

Doesn’t sound like something I would crave. Sorry |
More for you!!! |
Grabbing my fork - be right there! |
I’m sure you executed it perfectly, but that type of dessert doesn’t appeal to me. It’s not personal! |
I’d wish for whipped cream on that. |
Oh, it sounds wonderful. I'll eat it with you! |
Is this the first time you’ve made something your kids and/or DH didn’t like? Consider yourself fortunate. |
Americans like butter cake. |
I'd be glad to have the whole cake to myself! Enjoy! |
