+1. It sounds lovely; however, I’ll eat virtually anything, and I love fresh oranges & clementines, but orange desserts are not my favorite thing. In fact, it comes pretty close to being something that I actively dislike. Orange chocolate? Blech. |

Sponge cake (especially with a citrus touch) is more of a spring time or summer food.
This cold, and rainy, weather is more warm apple pie/cobbler or maybe a chocolate biscotti with hot chocolate- type comfort food. |
I don’t anymore. Pearls before swine as someone said earlier. |

I used to bake a lot for my coworkers because they appreciated the effort (my boss once proposed to me when I brought in a pie made from peaches we'd gotten at the orchard). That was pre-kids, when DH was going to law school at night and I had free time after work. Now I just bake cookies from scratch.
My kids are usually happy with grocery store cakes, or things like the dump cake I made tonight--dump two cans of pie filling in a 9x13 pan, cover it with one package of cake mix, then pour one stick of melted butter over it. Bake at 350 for 50 minutes or so and serve with vanilla ice cream. That was what my mom used to make and I called her last year and asked for the "recipe". |
No chocolate? Sorry not interested either! Maybe ask what kind of cake they like or at least don't get insulted if you don't. |
Sounds really awful both tasting and health wise! Hope you don't make it too often. |
Today was gorgeous but, the cake still sounds awful. |
Let's not speak for all Americans, k? |
That was random... |
Desserts or even donuts with jelly are nasty. One of the few desserts that I can simply walk on by. As in I won't even take a Christmas cookie with jelly in it to be polite. |

Great post--thanks for the laugh!! |
PP. who said anything about jelly? |
Um...the original post. Slow down, read again, and report back. |
| My DH and kids sometimes don't like my baking either. I made a marzipan stollen this year and I was the only one that ate it! Pound cake would also be something I could say I wouldn't be sure they would like. Chalk it up to a cooking adventure. |
