Can Virginia teachers use medical marijuana?

Anonymous
Now that medical marijuana is legal in Virginia, I’m thinking about applying for a card. However, I don’t know if I’m technically allowed to use medical M.J. If you are a teacher, has your district addressed whether teachers can use medical marijuana

They don't drug test public school teachers in Virginia. If you use medical marijuana, or even recreational marijuana, that's your private business. There is absolutely no reason to disclose this to your employer.

And if you have a card, you've done nothing wrong.

And if you don’t have a card because you engage recreationally you’ve also done nothing wrong. Quit propagating that reefer madness BS propaganda.

It's a Schedule I drug and you're breaking federal law.

It's currently not being enforced, but if they want to they can convict you. They probably won't, but tides turn.

The era where people care about marijuana is ending.

If this teacher is willing to be in person right now, the good people of APE and #OpenFCPS would not only crowdsource an excellent defense lawyer, but would also provide a lifetime supply of the teacher's preferred strain.

Sure, only follow the laws you agree with. Good luck!

Not at school. Keep that sh*t at home.

What makes you think teachers aren’t using marijuana now? It’s not like they’re drug tested.

If you have a card, yes. It’s a prescription essentially
