| The appeals are due Jan 7th, which seems to indicate that acceptance letters would be sent soon for the 2nd grad decisions. Is that right? Sorry, I'm new to this. |
| Bumping. When do we find out?[b] |
| Appeals for what? |
|
Is this for the fall screening? Where do you see it?
Here's the timeline page: https://www.fcps.edu/registration/advanced-academics-identification-and-placement/current-fcps-students/testing-and This page: https://www.fcps.edu/registration/advanced-academics-identification-and-placement/Level-IV-Appeals says fall screening appeals are due Jan.19? |
That might be for people wanting to move from Private to Public. There is a different timeline for those decisions so parents have an idea of what class their kids might be in before signing a contract for Private School. The applications for second graders in FCPS were accepted on December 1 this year, no decisions have been made for those kids so there is nothing to appeal. |

| Seeing the above, if private school appeals are due Jan 7th... that would indicate the letters are coming soon? With FCPS letters only about a week or so behind. |

original post here - we were a FCPS family that went private school (local catholic school) for the year. I thought the biggest pool was in the fall through early-winter application process so I thought there was more overlap than there appears to be.
I'm guessing the private and home-school kids hear soon though given those dates. |
I would have thought you would have heard at least a couple weeks ago if you have to appeal by Jan 7. That doesn't give you any time to prepare anything for the appeal. Not sure what the point of the appeal is then. |
The Equity report did call out appeals as part of the problem and the WISC. I wouldn't be surprised to find that FCPS is deliberately shortening the appeals window in order to decrease the use of the WISC. |
That's not very much time for appeals. Like a week to see if we can find someone to do an in person assessment? WTH? |
| Ooooh, so regular kids (2nd graders) won't find out until the spring? |
I agree that is probably why they are doing it that way. So dumb. The WISC would be more likely to identify kids who really need the program. And it is available to low income families for free. |
