I want to buy a Model Y, their newish little crossover. But for work purposes I don't want to and should avoid driving anything 'flashy'. I'm unsure what the general public thinks of Teslas moving into 2021. If it matters, I'd probably get it in white.

Model Y and Model 3 are not flashy. They are cheap. Everyone already knows the 5 years cost of ownership is similar to a Honda Accord.
The only flashy Tesla models are Model S and Model X. |
I’m not sure that’s true - a base accord starts around $24k and a base Tesla 3 starts around $36k - in five years time I don’t think it’s a wash in terms of cost. There’s less maintenance on the Tesla, but when that battery dies it will probably be expensive to replace. |

Goodness, I always thought they were much too bland. Appeal to the lowest common denominator. |
| Not flashy. Going to get one soon and I'm poor. |
| Trendy more than flashy, like an Apple Watch. |
| Male? Small penis hence why you are trying so hard. |
| Hmm, we are getting the cybertruck. The car just seems like any other car. I agree with the trendy not flashy statement. |
| It’s like any entry level luxury car. It’s fine and not too flashy, OP. |
| I can’t stand the black wheel trend. |
| I see a Tesla and I assume you are willing to pay a little more to advance the use of electric cars. |
| I don't like Elon Musk so I wouldn't get one for myself, but I definitely want to get an electric car for my next car. |

Around here they’re normal, I’d say. My FIL has a Model Y and adores it. He is the opposite of trendy and flashy, but loves technology.
My friends in Michigan, home of old fashioned American cars, say they’re flashy. |
| None of those are flashy. Sun might be higher end but they are not flashy. Plus, in this area they are a dime a dozen and they are super common that nobody bats an eye. |
| What other electric cars would people consider besides the Tesla 3 and that are in the 3's price range? That's the thing - there's still not that much in the way of options. |
