Doordash - why do they do multiple deliveries?

Anonymous
I ordered breakfast 45 minutes ago. I can see on the map that the dasher has already gone to THREE different places and it says he'll be here in 15 minutes. What the hell? My food is going to be frigid and disgusting, I ordered EGGS, what a ficking asshole. Why do they do this? Is there any way to make it so they won't????

Make your own eggs. Problem solved.

The answer is that they take as many deliveries as they can handle because it is a job to them. That you think they’re a personal food delivery person is pretty out of touch with the reality of people who rely on this kind of work.

They were canceling orders last night bc there were not enough doordashers.

Doordash and all the delivery services bunch orders from the same place or going to the same general area -- it's efficient and costs less than having an army of people idling in cars waiting to get you your egg and cheese sammie while it's still piping hot.

You can make it so they won’t by picking up your own food or paying the restaurants directly

It sucks. Now you can pay $1 on under eats to have your order “priority” and delivered first

Did you just call a gig worker an asshole for doing his/her job? When you order, they tell you how long it is going to take. Spoiler alert: a large portion of that time is delivery, not prep. Don't order food you can't easily re-heat. Also, go find some morals and perspective.

We are generally tolerant, but will complain to door dash if the food is cold. They generally refund the entire order even if it’s just fries that are cold.

Breakfast is always an issue because there are not many Dashers working those hours.

You don’t know how to make eggs?

You don't know what you're talking about. 99% of the time, the amount of time they tell you it is going to take is wrong (like they say 25-35 minutes and it takes over an hour). The DASHER decides if they're going to pick up multiple orders, it's not assigned to them.

Totals and tips also suck for breakfast

OP here, I always tip well. For the asshole who was like "you don't know how to cook eggs??". Obviously I do, but I haven't been to the grocery in a few weeks and don't have everything I need to make shakshouka, Do you?

We ordered breakfast a few weeks ago and after nearly an hour were told that our order was canceled. Huge hassle and I won’t be doing that again.

OP, most of these responses are ridiculous. These companies advertise the service they will perform. If they perform it poorly, you have every right to hold them accountable.

Door Dash is the WORST. I wish restaurants would use their existing staff to deliver.
