When Can Current ECNL Players Tryout for Other ECNL Clubs?

I know the rules on this are fairly set to discourage poaching players mid-season. Does anyone have experience with this/ know the ECNL rules on switching clubs?

It should be available on the ECNL Handbook on the ECNL website. And, I believe the actual deadline is regarding when offers can be made not necessarily ID sessions. But I don't really care that much so I'm not looking it up.

My advice is to ask the new club rather the old. Especially if its BRYC your leaving ! They will lie to make you miss the deadline in order to not lose the $$$.

Most clubs if you are a good player will let you come practice with the team you are trying to make. DA players did it all the time and its no different in the ECNL. It is already happening.

May 1st is the official ECNL date. ECNL clubs will have DA/GAL players out to training at any time, but usually ECNL clubs don’t go it before May 1

Our club has had players join mid-year from the same ECNL conference. I think it requires a waiver from the club losing the player.

I don’t think any waiver is needed if switching between conferences, which would be the case if a player at a MD club left for a VA club, or vice versa.

Have done this last Fall with my kid being frustrated with my kid's current ECNL team and coach. Contacted the MLSNext coach and had my kid practicing with them the following week. Things went well, will practice with the team again in the Spring to ensure a good fit and if all goes well will make the transition for 20-21 season.

PP- thanks for the responses. The last response addresses the question in terms of MLSNext. I am still wondering how you can determine which other ECNL club would be a better fit if you have to wait until May 1 to check them out.

So in essence the question is. When can we get out of BRYC to start playing for Mclean?

McLean doesn't want any BRYC players.

Mclean Parent wants all the current players replaced...including their own kid.

Can a player be rostered on 2 teams in the same division for ECNL?
