Do any of your boyfriends/ husbands like you a normal weight vs skinny?

Anonymous
My boyfriend really dislikes when I get "too skinny" (not even that skinny at all) and much prefers me well within the normal weight range. I have never been overweight but he is happiest when I'm maybe 23% body fat, with a bit of a tummy, hips, thighs, and just more meat on me overall. I am an apple body shape so gaining weight means I mainly gain it in my middle, which he is very happy with. He complains whenever I start losing weight and become "bony", according to him. FWIW he is in very good shape, with a six pack, so sometimes I feel self conscious when naked in bed next to him. But then he seems to like my body best this way.

I guess just wanting to hear from others about their experiences with this. Is this normal?

Sure. My husband prefers me on the heavier side, like close to overweight. I prefer being thin and lean. I win, because it's my body. But there's indeed variation in male aesthetic preferences.

Yes! My husband was unsettled when got myself down to a size 2.

Im not sure what you mean by “normal weight”. I’m 5’5 and 115 pounds. I’m 55 years old. Other than when I was pregnant, I’ve been the same weight since high school. 115 is normal for me. I eat a ton. I’m just very active. I’ll never be heavier than this. My husband seems ok with it given the obesity too often seen in women my age.

Presumably "normal weight" as in the normal weight range as designated by the government. You would probably be underweight, aka not that range

My husband does, because he knows it means I'm healthier. I was underweight when we met.

Considering OP mentions stomach fat I assume she means America "Normal" or overweight. The pp you are replying to is not underweight.

Apple body types store fat in the stomach regardless of their body fat percentage. It has nothing to do with being overweight. 5'5 at 115 would be underweight or very close to it as defined by the government

Yes, a lot of men like chubbier women, but I find it concerning that your man is a health nut so he should no the major health conditions belly fat could mean, and yet he wants that for you, that seems selfish that he can focus on his health, but wants you to disregard your own for his pleasure.

5’5’’ 115 is a BMI of 19.13. It’s barely within the healthy range.

I've always been on the very thin side even after two kids. I'm active, eat healthy foods and stay the same size. I always get comments from family and strangers about how thin I am. It's wrong that people so openly discuss someone's thinness but would never do the same to a person who is overweight

WE are discussing what OP meant by normal, and given her description, it suggests she means American normal of overweight. ANd no 5'5" is not underweight as defined by the government or close to it.

Most guys want something a little soft and curvy in bed. They don’t like it when you’re stick thin and bony. That doesn’t mean they’re trying to jeopardize your health or make you be obese - they just want something to hold on to.

That's not the kind of body fat that those government studies are talking about. For most people, excess stomach fat might be a concern, but for apple body types it's just where it goes. It would be like telling Jennifer Lopez she was concerningly overweight because she has a large behind.
