stay away from Farm raised salmon, esp. Norwegian

Anonymous
I already knew farm raised salmon contains highly elevated toxins and the reasons why, but this documentary adds a whole new set of facts to the WHY.

Also women with breast cancer history should stay away from all large fish, that means Salmon and Tuna. SOME wildcaught probably ok. Wasnt sure where to put this link, but since this is about the food industry in relation to fish, there is stuff here you want to know.

This is good advice but it is hardly new.

Good example. If you watch that video, the French eat majority fish (over chicken and beef) and 50% of their diet is farmed. So its not something that any country is really tackling.

+1 we always try to buy wild caught. We will eat farm raised once in a while, but not often.

I grew up eating a lot of fish (Asian diet), and it was so much cheaper than other meats (I grew up lower income). Now, it seems like it's the opposite. I try to buy organic meats, too.

Thank you op

But I buy my farmed salmon from whole foods... surely that's okay?

I really prefer the taste of farmed fish unfortunately

I’m not going to watch the whole hour—can someone give me a summary?
I avoid farm raised after reading an article about the antibiotic use. I have a relative allergic to antibiotics that always gets diarrhea after eating farm raised salmon (is fine with wild caught)....I think the antibiotics in the farm raised are triggering her allergy. That’s troubling.

With wild caught you really need to be concerned with micro plastics. There’s no good answer.

OP here, understood and agreed. Except there is another level to this, the corruption, monsanto, etc etc.

Plus the ... sludge? Slurry? They had another name for it.

OP here. NO. Sadly, no.

OP here, I understand its an hour. But you need to watch it, even if its in chunks. There is data in there you need to see.

I will say this: Baltic sea, most polluted sea on earth > fats store toxins > fatty eels from there > fed to salmon > Salmon already fatty > big fishy big fatty big toxin > add up a lot > dont eat the effin salmon > monsanto owned pesticide in fish feed too > fats store toxins > salmon fatty a lot > you eat is bad. A lot. Government in on it in Norway.

Ugh I hate salmon, so I’m clear there, BUT I do eat Canned tuna once in awhile. Once a month or do. It’s wild caught.

How is Icelandic farmed char?

I appreciate the thought OP but I eat salmon at least 2-3 times a week and I don't really distinguish between farm-raised or wild-caught. I buy what looks good that day when I'm at the store. I also eat canned tuna practically every day for lunch. I'll keep you posted about how it all works out...fingers crossed for a good outcome! I'm not being snarky, just realistic.
