LCPS returns to 100% virtual

At least they're being consistent and not changing things around continuously.

He’s actually inaccurate though. We are returning to DL because VDH said we actually hit 10% 4 days ago meaning we are on day 3 of the day 5 transition countdown already. We aren’t returning justly because we hit it today. Had they not discovered that we would have been in through never Thursday.

I think they’ll amend it to say if PCR drops below 10 for 5 days sped and k-2 can go. But they’ll hold off on 3-12 til both drop again. Which, with cases at 394/100,000 today, who knows when we drop to <200 again.

My sister is an elementary teacher in LCPS. Happy to know that she’ll (hopefully) be safe for the holidays.

Depends. School-based transmission had very little to do with her safety one way or the other. Hopefully metrics improve enough post-holiday that she's right back in.

LMAO

The U.S. is averaging 3,100 Covid deaths a day now. Not happening.

Yes, it will happen. This isn't keeping up.

Depends where in the US those cases and deaths are.

I’m betting you were one of the summer parents convinced schools would re-open in August.

The only thing that will change this is the vaccine. Luckily we’re close with a spring deployment potentially on the horizon.

We totally called this, but I think it's still bullshit. Kids are safe in schools, as Europe and Asia are demonstrating.

And even though both our girls want to be back in the classroom, we chose distance learning knowing with about 99% certainty that this very thing would happen.

Glad to see our decision was validated. But it's still BS.

Is that what you're betting? Metrics will go down early next year and yes, the vaccine is one of the reasons why.

Good luck with wishful thinking. I work for CDC and

1) 480k vaccines are coming to VA at the end of December.
2) these doses are going only and strictly to elderly in nursing homes and the staff dedicating their time and life to them.
3) COVID-19 vaccines have not been tested on children. Surprise! Thus, they will not be distributed nor inoculated on population below the age of 15
4) second round of vaccines for VA is estimated to hit the health officials distribution administrators by early January or mid February. If I recall from my DW’s meetings that’s start of Q3?
5) we need time to assess the adverse reactions of will cause on people so spring through summer is our window.
6) given the above next school year is starting with hybrid and virtual as we are now.
7) if nothing goes wrong, key word if, you might have 5 day in-person starting Q2 in 2021-2022 SY
