Is this LV handbag terribly out of style?

Anonymous
I got a Louis Vuitton bag about 15 years ago as a gift. It was bigger and more expensive than anything bag I owned, so I was kind of self-conscious wearing it and wound up tucking it away after using it for a bit.

I was cleaning out a closet today and looked at it again. Now, I like the size and the shape is cute. While I don't usually wear things with logos, I'm thinking of using it again. Is it horribly out of style?

It looks like this, but mine does not have the little hanging thing. The trim on mine is darker, too.

I say carry it if you like it, and it works for your lifestyle. The trim on LV bags generally gets darker with age so not surprising yours is darker.

The brown LV generally doesn’t go in and out of style unless it’s a super trendy shape like the barrel bag or it has graffiti or somethung

It's a classic bowling bag style

I don't think it is in nor out of style. It comes down to if it
is a style you want to wear. I wouldn't pick it for myself and would probably sell it- but I understand thinking about using it since it was a gift and you have it around

Thank you! i was trying to put a name to the shape - round top kelly bag didn't seem to make sense. Bowling bag! I have a bowling bag!

I always liked that style.

I'm with you and don't really care for things with logos, but I agree this is a classic style. I remember my chic grandmother had one like this probably 20 years ago.

The combination of the shape and the LV logo just reads tacky to me, sorry OP. I’m not sure why. For some reason I don’t dislike the neverfulls as much, maybe it’s the understanding that it’s such a practical workhorse type bag—which a bowling bag just isn’t—that makes me “forgive” the tackiness of the logo. But if you like it, it’s really a classic shape so it’s definitely not out of style. I guess just not my taste, not that I could afford it anyway.

I don't think the classic monogram LVs are tacky. The rainbow ones, on the other hand...

Pretty much all LV bags are out.

It’s a classic; I’d wear it. Ignore the haters.

Odd that you have such a strong negative opinion on a product you can't afford nor own. Neverfull is not a classic bag, it just screams I'm trying hard and broke.

OP your bag looks like an Alma. It is classic style bag. If you like it, definitely use it.

Not sure how a $2k neverfull screams that your broke but it's a classic tote bag so maybe it's not such a big deal but you seem to have outsize feelings towards it

It’s not a strong negative opinion, just an opinion that A) OP asked for and B) to which i’m entitled even if I can’t afford any LV bag. I have a negative opinion of Range Rovers too and I definitely can’t afford one of those.

I simply associate the LV pattern, which is as close to objectively ugly as you can get, with tacky try-hard people. At least the neverfull is practical and can take a beating so I get why you’d choose it for a daily driver tote. Why you’d choose that ugly logo pattern and the tacky striver associations for a small satchel makes less sense to me.

That is one of the most classic LV styles. It will never go out of style. I think it is as classic (but not as popular) as the Speedy.
