What do you think? FCCPS released a survey and less than 30% were in favor of a name change. The school board unanimously voted to change the names of the schools so students feel safe and supported. I thought the FCPS board lost site of what’s important with their agendas. It looks like it is everywhere. Families are in limbo with return to school plans and record high covid numbers. They are focusing on name changes. |
I think it's a dumb decision. Oh well.
I don't think conducting ordinary business is preventing the return to school. The numbers are doing that, and our general fearfulness and risk intolerance. |
I'm all for changing anything named after confederates. Founding fathers is a different and more complicated kettle of fish.
That said - OMG FOCUS ON OPENING SCHOOLS AND BARRING THAT ACTUALLY MAKING VIRTUAL WORK. Jesus Christ. |
Next can they vote on a word limit for Noonan's emails? |
It's not complicated at all. |
Ha! Remember the time when he misspelled FCC? |
Good argument! I tip my hat to your clear and concise resolution to a question that has roiled this country for years. You, sir, have won an argument on the internet today. |
Unbelievable! What’s next on the self-destructing list? |
First they vote to change the admission standard for TJ, now they want to change its name?! Sigh ... |
Maybe Washington, D.C.? Let's change the name of the nation's capital. |
I'm glad they are working on equity. Yes, there are more important issues in FCC that bar equity, such as affordable housing, but I am glad they are working on the problem in some way. |
I don't understand what you mean. |
Virtue signaling, narcissistic, fear mongers. |
FCC can do what it wants with its school names. Everyone else still knows it's a largely segregated town that expressly redrew its boundaries to exclude Black people. |
Fear of what? And are you sure you know what narcissistic means? |
