I’m trying to get a realistic kitchen remodel range of price.
Small colonial, removing wall between kitchen, dining room to create larger kitchen. Need cabinets, flooring, lighting, countertops, island, move sink to island, mid-range appliances. Any thoughts? |
| Ours cost $45 but we didn’t tear down any walls. I’d add another $10k for that. But rest just get a few quotes from contractors/designers will give you a better idea than dcum. |
| I agree with 40-50k. Moving plumbing around is shockingly expensive. |
| Where are you? That matters. In NW DC, this is a 75k+ job. Also depends on whether the wall is load-bearing, how much you are changing the layout, etc. |
| 75 |
| I’d guesstimate 50K depending on the cabinets you pick and if you price-shop on contractors. |
Good point on the load-bearing wall issue. |
| 80-100k is what we’ve been quoted in MoCo |
| If you want to save money, go with more of an experienced handyman type to do the work. A design-build firm will be $$$$. |
| $75-$100k |

OP here—in Chevy chase, md. The wall is not load-bearing.
One well known kitchen design firm (cabinet sellers) quoted $155-$210K which is outrageous I want the non-Chevy chase price |
Check out Cabinet Discounters for cabinets. Their quote was half what we got from the next closest kitchen-design shop and we’ve been very pleased with the quality. |
| $50k in MoCo including taking down a wall like you. Home Depot cabinets, Black Friday appliances, nothing fancy. Shop around because our quotes varied by $10k. |
This is more realistic. Cabinets alone can cost $40. It really depends how high end you are getting with everything. What type of appliances? In your area I would be shocked if you could do this as low as $40 as others have mentioned. I would guess, depending on what you choose, $70-$150. |
| This is going to cost you 75-100. This area is ridiculous. |
