| And why are all the Olympic snowboarders blonde haired and light eyed, except the Chinese? |
| For the same reason I have a jewish cousin called Jesus. |
|
Strange, isn't it? Personally, I was thinking of naming my kids New Testament and Koran, but chickened out in the end.
FWIW, the bronze medalist has brown hair. |
c'mon -- have you seen Shaun White? |
| sorry, meant to say the female Olympic snowboarders are blonde and light-eyed. It looks like one long Mentos commercial. |
It's difficult to bleach out Chinese hair and colored contacts aren't widely available in China. |

Actually, I was curious about this myself. Apparently, it is because the Torah is the first 5 books of the bible. That, and they had a Jewish piano teacher who said the name also means "bearer of a great spiritual message."

Mormons use the bible, so I suppose Torah is not so odd.
(The Torah is what Christians read as the books of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy.) |
Just wait four years. The Chinese snowboarders will all look gorgeously blonde and blue-eyed too. |
| OK, but, the Torah (a Hebrew word, of course) is a but a part of the Bible. And the Bible, in turn, is a small part of the LDS canon. It's a peculiar pick. |
I know several Jewish Christopher's. And I guess you could argue that Jesus was a Jew so... |

I don't know what all of the fuss is about. It doesn't seem all that confusing to me.

Not particularly. Joseph Smith was into this lost tribe of Israel thing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mormon_view_of_the_House_of_Joseph And the Torah plays a disproportionate role in Christian OT studies compared with the other OT books. |
