That is good to hear. We can all have a good season for area teams in the GDA. It would be great to see all of the VA DA teams do better versus the rest of the East Conference.

You can see the teams they are playing vs the teams FCV is playing. FCV is playing top teams. They are playing some of the best teams in the west - teams with winning records and NT players. Spirit is playing the bottom level teams. Other teams who have lost most of their games just like Spirit.

Why does anyone care about scores in a friendly? It's not a real game. The substitution rules are different. Often the personnel/positioning is different. The purpose of a friendly is to try s**t out.

Re. FCV. I don't think anyone has disputed that they are currently very good. They are the best DA in the DMV. They are a top program in some age groups. But so what? Spirit is getting better. A big part of the problem was the bloated rosters. Are they playing at FCV level right now, no? will they next year? Probably again no. But in ALL SPORTS there is a group of teams that is at the bottom of a given league (pro, college, world level, etc.) every year. That doesn't mean standings don't change as personnel does. And anyone on this forum who does't acknowledge that literally a single player can change the course of a team is wearing blinders, and doesn't watch a lot of sports -- not just soccer. Why do you think people care so much about what happens early in the NFL draft? So, good job to FCV. But why does that have to mean we all want to bash Spirit?

Because spirit parents use friendly results to bash area clubs on this forum weekly. This has been discussed in depth.

NP here. But I'm a Spirit parent. I think my DD has played maybe 4 friendlies all year -- one last fall and one last week in Richmond, and a couple winter/preseason showcase things. How does that create any kind of weekly friendly results bragging or bashing? Maybe it's a different age group?

We were aware. We thought it was a terrible idea. I personally never posted that because it sounds so stupid. Richmond United vs PDA? Yeah, that makes sense. Versus us? Of course not. We played them in the summer and had competitive matches fo every team except the EDP group. I'm not sure who thought it up, but I hope the results confirm that it was a terrible idea.

First I've heard of this. If true, it because DA couldn't stomach a head to head beating so they created an illusion by playing the Spirit DA teams up to have an excuse for the poor results against A ECNL club (DA is still in a battle with ECNL)

Excuse: "Its about development. We are testing our kids. Results dont matter"

If anything, Richmond should have played their teams up for a challenge. However, I'm sure DA couldn't stomach that.

From what I was told, it was a REALLY bad idea.

Good points. Does not seem Spirit parents are too concerned about the results. Looks like July MU sessions are now open for DA and ECNL players. Good opportunity for players looking to get more playing time at the DA level.

As a Spirit/MU parent, I don't care about results per se. Close games are great developmental experiences. That's what the teams had in the summer with RU. Having your butt handed to you and getting massacred is not a developmental experience. I consider this last friendly some odd mistake. It's anomalous to what we have overall had with the club, even with all the sabotage from the pro team.

My DD has gotten better, which is why when I ask her about trying out elsewhere, she says she'd like to give it another year, especially with all the changes she has been told are coming.
