Oh yes STAY AWAY. no reason to come now when things are this unstable. Sure ppl already here may choose not to leave but why bother if you’re searching for a new school? [/

No need to tell folks to stay away. The school is doing well. The school year is off to a great start. Such a positive vibe all around. The faculty and staff are happy as are the students. The CFO leaving does not make the school unstable. In fact a new person coming in could be just what is needed.

Please check out the school. Come to open house. Things have really turned around with the previous HOS gone. The school is rebuilding in some areas, but all for the better.

US was great last year and is great this year so far. Student experience is impacted mostly by teachers and we have some outstanding teachers - just incredible (and some okay ones). I have a lot of confidence in the upper school head as well. Not saying all is perfect but I would happily pay for this experience till my DC graduates. We also loved middle school here. As an aside, from my work with schools, I know of lots of schools in our area that are having some issues with their boards (attrition causes conditions for a blame game unfortunately). The board at this school doesn’t seem particularly impressive in its composition compared to other boards I have been involved with but hopefully some active recruitment is happening to increase and improve membership.

I agree the school year is off to a good start but the CFO leaving does give me new concern because it indicates the board is not realizing the problem was because of the head that the board itself chose and (and his decisions/priorities/the culture he created) and the not people under him. I like my child’s teachers and the head of my child’s division very well but I have basically no confidence at all in the board.

Why was CG let go? And why is the school not announcing this!
Anonymous
Wait, what is this rumor about CG? Haven’t heard that from the school or through the rumor mill.
Anonymous
He’s not working for the school anymore. I’ve heard that from multiple people but there isn’t an announcement from the school.

Long term CFO leaves on the tail of rumored financial problems and a board run audit and you don’t think prospective new families should exercise caution? Sure people can check out if they want but why invite people into what is an unstable situation? That’s hardly doing them a favor. Ssfs has no reason to be on the top of anyone’s list. Stability is importing and 3 weeks into a new year with so much staff turnover and now the CFO s fired, that’s a good reason to warn people to be prudent.

Where did you hear that, and when? I have seen him on campus and he’s still listed in the directory.

The board knows RG was the problem. They fired him, remember?

If you are an SSFS community member and you are this unhappy that you are fear mongering on a message board then why on earth are you still even at SSFS? If you are not an SSFS community member than find a new outlet for your fear mongering. SSFS is no doubt facing some challenges as all institutions do at times. However, there are plenty of reasons to keep SSFS on the top of your list - the teachers, the lovely caring families that are here, the inclusivity, Quaker values, and the beautiful and homey campus ...just to name a few.

Thanks for weighting in, thought police, but being a long term member of the community and paying tuition for three children for almost a decade makes me a stakeholder, even when I have concerns and not just praise.

Then act like you have stake in SSFS. Fearmongering and telling people to look elsewhere is quite frankly stupid. IF you have stake in a company are you going to encourage people to use the competition? Troll somewhere else.

Honestly admitting that - right now - the school is unstable a lot of churn is happening and it is prudent to wait to see how things settle with everything before shelling out $45k is not being a troll. No reason to false advertise that the school is great based on 2 weeks of classes going fine. And even last few years classes went fine for most people. Teachers were largely good as well. But the school has problems and isn’t the place it was 5 years ago. That’s why 100 students and 35 teachers left. These are facts. The school isn’t paying parents to entice families to join by making it sound like the place has no concerns. That’s just dishonest. But then again the board is anything but transparent so maybe that’s just how ppl roll here?

I see you're not grasping the concept of stakeholder.
