DeSantis and FL moving to hammer Disney

Disney made a last minute agreement with the former Reedy Creek Improvement District board which takes away many of the new board’s powers and gives them to Disney.

😆

"Disappointed" Ron Peri needs to go back and take a history lesson on how Disney was created. Disney built it all up from nothing including the local government and infrastructure. It was literally empty swamp.

What this story really needed was the involvement of Harry and Meghan. Wait until the folks in the Entertainment forum find out. This thread will be 1,000 pages.

Yep, Bob Iger's lawyers just neutered DeSantis board. The new board is impotent with non of the power DeSantis craved. Of course DeSantis is now talking about spending the taxpayers money in legal fees to sue Disney and get the agreement tossed. Years of protracted litigation as Disney carry on business as usual.

Jeff, I love when you snarkily pop into a thread.

Nope. Can't take credit for building up a business. 😊

Maybe i am naive but i always thought that DeSantis could not care less about running Disneyworld. I thought he just wanted to make the big gesture of going against big woke corporation and taking power back for the people, and he did it and got the press for it. now running the actual thing would be a problem (apparently there was a reason why Disney had so much control) and he does not care if in reality his Board does not do a thing, as long as he can still go to his future rallies and brag about not being afraid of anything when it comes to defend Floridians from the evil of wokeness

Savage.

“As it turns out, seizing control of a lawfully constituted board doesn’t turn on a dime and while DeSantis talked up his plan to the fawning right-wing press, the old board continued entering agreements in the best interest of the area it oversaw. And the best interest of the area involved tying up the land in concrete agreements benefiting the company that drives all economic growth in the area and not the current governor’s polling in Iowa. Tying them up as long as the Rule Against Perpetuities will allow!”

The awesome move would be if Disney called his bluff. Many shorts would be soiled that day I tell you.

Agree and I suspect the Mouse House lawyers have something spectacular up their sleeves and bury DeSantis in mouse dung.

+1. Disney employs a lot of lawyers and marketing specialists. They don't need to buy DeSantis off. They will simply intervene in the politics of the state and bury him so deep he may have to leave Florida to see the light of day in politics again.

A month later, this post is aging like a Bordeaux.

This one is also delicious. PP should buy a lottery ticket or something.

It appears the people DeSantis put in were going to use their powers to constantly hold things at ransom to influence what Disney was going to put out, ie lesbian in the Buzz Lightyear movie.

No, he didn't do it, at all.

He has made a mockery of Florida...from education, to insurance, to crime and law and order, he has failed at every turn.

They were, but Disney kneecapped them before they even knew which people were going to be on the board.

I swear Disney has the most effective, ruthless lawyers. Never underestimate the mouse.
