Dear Gov. Hogan

Anonymous
Now that I know you threw your vote away instead of voting against Trump, you have lost my backing to run as POTUS. I was totally smitten with you as a potential presidential candidate during these past 7 months because I really appreciated the way you handled the pandemic. Then, out of the blue, you went back to being a right-wing name caller. I thought you sounded like an idiot when you said people opposed to widening 270/495 were "pro-traffic" -- how absurd to just brush their legitimate concerns aside with name-calling that makes no sense at all -- but I let that slide. But recently you seemed to pull that part of your personality back to the surface when said teachers wanted to go back to the classroom and it was only the big, bad unions who were pushing for keeping schools closed. That bugged me. But when you said you threw your vote away instead of voting against Trump, you lost me forever.

You're big hat, no cattle. No one cares about all the crap you spout against Trump now. Talk is cheap. Votes matter. You've lost mine forever.

This makes a lot more sense. It would be a tall order to Hogan to pick up the MAGA Republicans across the country who support Trump. On the other hand, in Maryland, he would pick up his base Republicans and the MAGAs since they'll support any R for Senate.

I don’t think OP ever supported or voted for Hogan anyway, so I’m not sure what the net loss is.

I am a lifelong democrat who was fully ready to vote for him for POTUS. Does that count?

Hogan -

A sane Republican, one I disagree with, but with whom I can talk because he's not crazy, and he's entitled to his non-crazy opinions.

Can't say the same for certain other Republicans.

This was me plus I'd go one further to say I was ready to vote for him. Until I learned he threw away his vote in the most important election of our lifetimes. All talk and no action.

Yes! Dem who voted for Hogan in both elections. His unwillingness to stand with millions of other Never Trumpers means I will never vote for him again.

+1 OP was never a Hogan supporter. HOGAN for President 2024!

How did he not stand with Never Trumpers? He didn't vote for Trump and many people are queasy to vote for Biden.

Can you not read? I WAS a Hogan supporter. No more. I will not vote for him in 2024 or in any other election.

Maryland Dem who voted for Hogan in the last election. I really liked him and still do appreciate his pandemic leadership. But no, I can't now even consider voting for him in 2024, with that juvenile stunt.

That said, I hope an overall decent Republican wins the nomination over an overtly evil person like Pence. I could sleep at night if the Democratic nominee loses to a decent person like Larry Hogan.

The OP wants Hogan to be a Democrat. He's not a Democrat. He's a reasonable Republican with mostly reasonable Republican views. I'm a Democrat and voted for him for governor.

Because at this point, a 3rd party vote is basically a vote for Trump. #everyvotecounts.
