| Over the past few months my hair has become very dry and brittle. I didn't change anything, my hair is virgin (no color), and I use a lot less heat than used to, so I think I need to try some new products (in addition to vitamins and drinking more water, obviously). I keep hearing about Olaplex but know nothing about it. Tell me all about it, please!! Do I need the whole system or is there one specific product I can try first? I have my Sephora 15% to use this week! |
| OP again, I had 3" cut off, so it's not split ends, btw! |
| If your hair is dry and brittle, try a cheap deep conditioner. Like coconut oil. That solves a TON of issues regarding moisture and you may not even need O. |

I use Olaplex & like it (shampoo & conditioner) but I am not sure it is the restorative dream you are seeking. I use it to protect my color but I don't think it really rejuvenates my hair. I have occasionally used Oribe & I think it is much more restorative. But, it is $$$$ so I hardly ever use it despite the fact that I think it's the best shampoo/conditioner out there for my hair. Just not willing to spend the cash, personally. I also have really liked It's a 10 Miracle Hair mask in the small round container. BUT - warning - some on DCUM have experienced hair loss from this so be forewarned. https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/533489.page

If you don't color your hair I don't think it will be helpful.
-use a gentle sulfate free shampoo/conditioner for dry hair. I like Intelligent Nurients Pure Luxe -weekly oil treatment. At night I massage castor oil into scalp and then mix some jajoba oil (Trader Joe's) with a couple drops of castor oil and rub it into my ends and through the length of my hair. I shampoo it out in the morning and follow with O&M 7 day miracle masque deep conditioner |
| OP here - thanks! See, this is how clueless I am, I didn't even know it was just for colored hair! |
| I use Nioxin and it works well |

I sleep with Olaplex
On my hair once a week in the summer when I am swimming laps and if saves my hair. I think I use #3. |
No it’s not just for colored hair. There are different versions for different hair needs. |
|
Number 3!!! Worth the money.
Put it on and leave it for 24 hours. Do it once a week or once ever 2 weeks and you will see a difference! |
So, somewhat true. But it repairs broken bonds from damage to hair which is mainly from heat styling and chemicals (relaxers, coloring). If OP is t doing those things it likely won’t help much. Her hair needs moisture |

Do you all use #1, #2 then 3
Or just 3 |
| Try Elvive water. I have olaplex and I prefer the elvive water to it. Easy and it makes my hair super soft. |
Olaplex is really good for prcessed (think bleached/jighlighted haiir .its literally a chemical rebonding. You want a product for normal.dry hair, NOT olapolex. I had processed, The aveda dry remedy and deep moisture lines worked great for the sapped of life side of normal hair. Trust me have used olaplex and aveda for different reasons and the aveda is- ah mazing for dry meh hair. You can buy in sets and no doubt there will be black froday steals.up the wazoo soon. |
I just do 1 and 2. I think 3 is worthless. If you want to do an overnight on dry hair, I just use 2 for that. It's the same thing, just stronger. |
