I didn't change anything, my hair is virgin (no color), and I use a lot less heat than used to, so I think I need to try some new products (in addition to vitamins and drinking more water, obviously). I keep hearing about Olaplex but know nothing about it. Tell me all about it, please!! Do I need the whole system or is there one specific product I can try first? I have my Sephora 15% to use this week!

Olaplex is really good for prcessed (think bleached/jighlighted haiir
.its literally a chemical rebonding. You want a product for normal.dry hair, NOT olapolex. I had processed, The aveda dry remedy and deep moisture lines worked great for the sapped of life side of normal hair. Trust me have used olaplex and aveda for different reasons and the aveda is- ah mazing for dry meh hair. You can buy in sets and no doubt there will be black froday steals.up the wazoo soon.

The Aveda does absolutely nothing for my fine, dry hair and maybe...dries it out further? So YMMV.

For those of you who use it overnight—what do you put over it so it doesn’t soak into your pillow?

+1 I always wondered how you're supposed to leave a conditioner in overnight- do you use a shower cap while sleeping?

If you're hair is not color treated, have you tried a hard water treatment, like Malibu C? Maybe you have mineral or chlorine build up in your hair from hard water, swimming, hair products. You can buy a treatment packet on Amazon for around $3. Sally Beauty Supply also sells a crystal hair treatment for removing build up. These are safe, mostly Vitamin C. Follow with a deep conditioner of your choice.

-use a gentle sulfate free shampoo/conditioner for dry hair. I like Intelligent Nurients Pure Luxe

-weekly oil treatment. At night I massage castor oil into scalp and then mix some jajoba oil (Trader Joe's) with a couple drops of castor oil and rub it into my ends and through the length of my hair. I shampoo it out in the morning and follow with O&M 7 day miracle masque deep conditioner

I’m the PP. To add, before adopting the routine above, I did try opalex #3 and even left it on 30 full minutes. It did nothing. My hair is curly and leans on the dry side, but I don’t heat or color it so it isn’t over processed. The above routine has been glorious. I get compliments on my hair all the time and stylist always comment on how beautiful and healthy it is.

Treatments like Olaplex are designed for damaged hair. If your hair is healthy but dry, you may need more moisture. It couldn't hurt to clarify your hair first and use a deep treatment. When my hair is not cooperating, I usually just need to clarify and start with a clean slate.

Agree! O&M makes a great clarifying shampoo that is sulfate free and doesn’t strip moisture.

Must be a no sex night. I can't imagine sleeping next to my husband in a plastic shower cap.

Didn't work on me. I will not spend the money on it now. Been using Elvive (sp) from drug store and been quite impressed.

I use olaplex 6 on my ends after the shower. Keeps my curls / waves defined for days.

Olaplex 3 does NOT work with my hair. Makes it look stiff and greasy.

You probably have product buildup because they always makes my hair start to feel dry. First I’d clarify and deep condition.

I’ve tried Olaplex and it was good but not worth the price. I get this now and it’s a total dupe, but shhh I don’t want them
raising their price:
