Why is it named, "Dulles" and not Washington DC International Airport

What I think is funny is that it’s a major international airport and I find it to be VERY difficult for non native speakers to say correctly even with practice

The other airport was basically Washington DC National Airport at the time, so a Washington DC International Airport, nowhere near Washington, DC, would be confusing.

+1. This kind of dumb is unique to American public schools and their focus on building self esteem, rather than actually teaching anything.

The Russians and Chicoms don’t do that. They just teach.
