New giant pictures at bottom of page

This afternoon I started to see at least 3-4 enormous (and occasionally gross) pictures/videos above the 'Recent Topics' line. I have to scroll down a lot to get down to the Recent Topics link, and it means I can't avoid seeing huge pictures of teeth close-ups and Donald Trump's face. God knows what I did to deserve that particular combination of targeting, but I don't like it.

Can you please get rid of the huge pictures? It is seriously making me not want to use Recent Topics or even scroll to the end of a thread.

I started running some new ads tonight that supposed to appear at the bottom of the page. There is a Recent Topics link near the top left of the page and another at the bottom of the page. When you say that you see the ads above the Recent Topics link, do you mean the link at the bottom or the link at the top left?

I mean the one on the bottom, which used to be the most convenient one to get to Recent Topics because it was immediately below the last post on the thread.

These pictures are much, much larger than any of the other ads on the page, by the way. Maybe it's just my phone, but they are huge. They also are much spammier (links to questionable videos, etc.). Right now the top one says 'Linked Video Could Shut Down the Democratic Party for Good!' with a gigantic picture of Mike Pence and the Pope.

I can move the row of links that has the bottom Recent Topics link above the ads. I can't do that for about another half hour or so because I need to switch to another computer. I only agreed to have these ads because they would be at the bottom and I thought they would be out of the way.

The one I’m seeing is Joe Biden and the Pope.

But yeah, it’s basically a political version of the “one weird trick” and “you’ll never believe what Honey Boo Boo looks like now” fake articles you see at the bottom of other sites.

Sounds good.

The top one is now a gigantic row of teeth but the Pope seems to be gone.

Yup. The same tagline now shows Trump and the Pope for me. Maybe they are cycling through them all. Plus my God the teeth.

I see them too. They are appearing under my “quick reply” box. Right now I see Lovemaking video every man over 60 should watch, cardiologist what happens when you eat a steak, plastic surgeon takes and Finally, a video CNN refuses to let you watch.

The huge ads show up on all of my pages, regardless of forum or thread. The first one on this page is “Top doctor reveals risky sex habit could be KILLING seniors.”

I've moved the links at the bottom of the page to be above the ads. The ads should be on every page for everyone. That is expected. I am running these new ads to see how they perform. Online advertising crashed at the beginning of the pandemic and has one partially recovered. I am testing these ads to see if they can help make up some of the difference. I don't like ads anymore than anyone else does, but we do have to generate revenue or we can't do this.

Thanks for fixing, Jeff! It's much better now that the Recent Topics link is above the ads.

I am not complaining about ads in general, to be clear. I don't want to scroll past weird ones to get to Recent Topics, though, so I appreciate the fix.

+1, these new ads are annoying. When you scroll to the bottom of a thread on your phone to see new replies, you end up scrolling too far and seeing these spammy ads.
