Homeless woman found dead in Chevy Chase Circle

Anonymous
Came up to CCC tonight and saw a sheet over a body in the circle with a cart next to her. Last month I came upon DuPont circle and a man in his 30's was dead. What is going on with these deaths, OD or suicide?

Very possibly corona virus. Very sad.

The pandemic situation has caused a major problem for a lot of shelters. There are less people out and about to panhandle from. Restaurants that may have allowed homeless to have free meals are shut down or not able to provide them. There is a lot more stress surrounding the pandemic.

These were things all told to me by various homeless people I interact with for my job. They have def. had an uptick in homeless dying not just from the virus itself but from the side effects of it as well.

+1. When they back-trace her, I’ll bet she had contact with someone in the whitehouse

This I don’t buy. DC is overflowing with resources for the homeless. World Central Kitchen (founded by a DC resident and Michelin-starred chef) alone has given out 900,000 meals.

They’ve done the same in multiple cities - Newark got 600,000 meals. And DC has dozens upon dozens of similar non-profits giving out food.

Until the lockdown, I drove by Wisconsin (Rockville Pike) and Grosvenor every morning. Every day a jovial homeless guy named Harry was there holding a sign. He was a fixture. I drove by there last week and saw a cross attached to the street sign and the cross had “Harry” written on it. I assume that poor Harry died and it was likely Covid. So sad.

It looks like there was a car accident with an SUV headed into the middle of the circle are you sure it’s a homeless person who died and not someone from a car accident ?

Very sad indeed.

So... if the homeless check their WCK app they will know where to get help?

You just need to know the pick-up locations - which restaurants are distributing the meals or how to get to Nationals stadium.

Food isn't always what is needed. They are probably killed and no one cares. Single adult homeless shelters are horrible. There is little quality mental health treatment.

Where I live there is an uptick in the numbers of homeless seen out and about. Maybe they just move?

So sad.
Let’s give them each a hotel room until there is a vaccine available.
