Virginia Mail In Ballots!

Anonymous
Just a shout out not to sleep on these.

Once opened, I’m looking at 3 envelopes and 3 pages from and back of instruction and still haven’t seen the ballot yet, that’s in another sealed envelope. And no where else did I see or hear but apparently your ballot requires the signature of a WITNESS.

We’ve decided to go to take the mail in ballot with us to a polling location and vote early in person.

Directly next to the voter signature line, it has “WITNESS ___________________” with zero other mention of a witness. I just received the ballot on Friday.

I’m hugely annoyed and concerned about this. It’s so confusing, invites error, and hands Trump ammunition to fight every ballot.

Yes, the envelope has a witness signature space, BUT as PP explained above, this is not necessary.

This is a quote from election website (even in bold font in the origy page)

If you believe you may not safely have a witness present while completing the absentee ballot for the November 3, 2020 Election, you are not required to have a witness present.
Accordingly, you may disregard the witness signature requirement if you believe you may not safely have a witness present while completing your ballot.

You can confirm this information in the OFFICIAL virginia elections website

The ballot packaging and directions (too much AND too little necessary information) is ridiculously confusing and overwhelming to most voters — I’m not talking about the highly educated, well-read typical DCUMer.

Is there ANYWHERE that lists Virginia in person early voting sites or does everyone have to go to the Fairfax County (assuming you're Fairfax) Resgistrar's office at the Government Center?

I’m certain other polling places will open in October. Hopefully someone will provide a link.

Starting Oct. 14, there will be a number of satellite in-person early voting locations open in Fairfax County, in addition to the Government center. All listed RIGHT THERE on the country elections website.

But the ballot says “WITNESS” next to a signature line. Virginia trying to go red.
