Will a witness be required?

Witnesses are not required to vote in Virginia.

But the ballot says “WITNESS” next to a signature line. Virginia trying to go red.

Did you read the beginning of this thread? Witnesses used to be required to vote by mail and aren't any longer. This is as a result of Virginia going blue.

Did you receive a mail in ballot yesterday? It clearly says WITNESS next to a signature line. What is wrong with Virginia?

Exactly my point and fear.
Virginia blew it with these mail in ballots. 4 pages of instructions, plus 4 envelopes, but check the updated website directions too or a WaPo article to inform you that you can ignore the WITNESS line right there next to your signature.

No, I give up on YOU.

You do realize that if you have a witness sign your envelope, your vote will still count, right?

I’m not concerned about my vote counting. I’m concerned about the many many who will get confused and frustrated but the many pages of instructions and envelopes and requirements, some of which are not requirements at all, some of which are vital requirements.

Another vote for that mail-in ballot packet being completely ridiculous and overly-complicated.

I filled it out, signed everything, had a witness, sealed one envelope inside the other and am now freaking that I did not write my name correctly on the envelope.

I’m also now worried about the naked ballot problem. Did I double stuff properly?

Received mail-in ballots. We intend to return ballots in person to FFx Govt. Ctr. rather than by return mail.

Can one person from my household return all 3 of our ballots (mine, spouse, and DD)? Or do all three of us need to go to drop it off?

I think I read on one of the envelopes that you verify that you’re the voter putting the ballot in the box. Seems ridiculous. (We also have 2 ballots here from kids away at college).

Yes, one person can return all three. It's just a drop box with a poll worker sitting next to it. They don't verify anything when you drop it off.

Outer return ballot envelope reads:

Remember: Only you the voter may return your ballot in person (by hand) or place it in a drop box.”

NO NO NO. You can take ONLY YOUR ballot to the Govt. Ctr. It's on the form.

Witness signature is not required but in my family we signed with a witness just in case the orange idiot tries to contest this.

I swear there are dumpster trumpsters on this post intentionally trying to confuse things. The process was not that complicated.

I’m going sane with the thought of 4 more years of this imbecile. I’m also annoyed beyond measure that this has been made so complicated. Virginia is INVITING confusion and HANDING Trumpsters excuses to blah blah blah. If hanging chads could cause controversy and decide an election, just wait.
