Still sounds like "just a vacation." |
Well, according to DWS, it’s all because of “Islamophobia.” Nice try, Deb. |
Yep. Just a "vacation". He wasn't "fleeing". He was "vacationing". ![]() |
Here is the relevant part of Awan's attorney's statement from page 6 of this thread: "Washington, DC: The attacks on Mr. Awan and his family began as part of a frenzy of anti-Muslim bigotry in the literal heart of our democracy, the House of Representatives." What utter BS from his attorney and DWS! Debbie needs to step away from politics entirely. |
Islamophobia has certainly played a role -- if you have read this entire thread that is undeniable -- but clearly the primary motivation is the unrelenting desire among Republicans to manufacture outrage and deflect attention from their own political disasters. Again, we have posters promising us that this case -- which currently is no more than a mortgage fraud case and, if you are really lucky, may turn into a procurement scandal -- will clear the Russians of hacking allegations, be linked to Seth Rich, and implicate Hillary Clinton. If you are going to charge the other side with hyperbole, you should have the integrity to look what you yourself have been saying. |
I don't think we have seen evidence of Islamophobia playing a role in the actions of law enforcement with respect to Awan. That's the suggestion from DWS and Awan's attorney, right? Crying wolf about wrongful discrimination does real damage. Credible accusations of Islamophobia become less likely to be believed as a result. |
I don't know if any actions of law enforcement -- which have been fairly restrained -- have been motivated by Islamophobia. But certainly much of the public discourse including that right here on DCUM demonstrates such a motivation. Crying wolf of course can have consequences but those are almost never as severe as simply ignoring actual prejudice. |
Sure they are. When people are accused of racism, it’s almost always a control tactic. Screaming Islamophobia has helped terrorism |
Please explain how "Screaming Islamophobia has helped terrorism"? That makes no sense. It is interesting that so many fear being called a racist much more than they fear actually being a racist. |
Terrorists want people to be accused of Islamophobia because it makes them afraid to ‘see something, say something ‘ |
Funny, in your mind "terrorists" are all Muslim. But, of course, you would be insulted if you were accused of Islamophobia. Your analysis is a real stretch and not very convincing. It actually sounds more like a justification for Islamophobia which just goes back to my earlier point. You are far more concerned about being called an Islamophobe than you are about actually being Islamophobic. |
Your goal in screaming racist is to shut people up. |
No, I have much better tools at my disposal if that were my goal. My goal is simply to point out the facts. You have clearly implied that all terrorists are Muslim. That is obviously an Islamophobic belief. You can choose to correct the record or accept the label. That has nothing to do with shutting you up. |
