There are no people on SNAP who don’t want to work, buy or rent a stable home, better themselves, etc. They are desperate for it in fact. They have all, along with their kids, simply fallen on hard times or there are no suitable jobs available to them in their area. That’s all. |
You have no way of knowing the individual thoughts of 40 Million people. |

I've been delivering meals for 6 years to public housing and have gotten to know not only the clients, but their neighbors.
For the neighbors who aren't getting meals from me, most don't have cars. A large number of them have illnesses that make walking and even standing to cook or heat meals very difficult. More than a few are blind and it's hard to work the microwave. The nearest store is over 1.5 miles away - a Dollar General and a gas station. Over 3 miles round trip. There is a food bank 1 mile away, but that means walking 2 miles total while you are carrying an oxygen tank, or struggling with Parkinson's. And then carrying the heavy box of food back. It's also hilly. These people have trouble walking to the apartment office to get their mail. There's a town bus that is an hour loop. That means a minimum of 2 hours to get to a grocery store. 1 hour of riding and 1 hour of shopping. However, you have to be able to walk to the office and be able to carry all your groceries back on the bus. You can't bring a hand cart on the bus, if the grocery is at the beginning of the loop for you, then frozen is sitting out for over an hour & your milk is getting warm. And if you are physically challenged, how are you going to carry multiple bags of groceries and heavy gallons of milk back up the hill from the office to your apartment? Some people have told me they can't use the bus because they can't climb the stairs to get on and it's not a medical bus with attendants. Now imagine dragging all those heavy vegetables that everyone wants them to buy from Dollar General (instead of potato chips) back home over 1.5 miles, up and down hills. After you already walked 1.5 miles to get there. Some of them have lost their IDs during the upheaval of their lives. The nearest DMV is 2 miles away and appointments are never available, even months out. Plus you need a computer and internet and luck to nab an appointment, which most of these people don't have. To replace an ID, they would have to walk 2 miles at 5am to get in line. If you're carrying oxygen, do you think they can also carry a folding chair? Then can't stand in line for long, and when it opens at 8am, they take a few people and hopefully get to the rest by noon. So guess who's not voting if they happen to lose their ID? The voting office is further to walk to, but at least they can get a free ID to vote. That is if they can walk over 4 miles round trip to vote. When they can get a ride to the Dr on the medical bus, I guess their Dr knows them and doesn't ask for their ID every visit. Life is so hard for people in poverty and often dealing with an illness. I feel so guilty driving by these neighbors while I'm taking meals to others. But I can't pick them up for insurance reasons. They are struggling to bring home whatever food they can get from Dollar General and the gas station and they are exhausted. And MAGAs want them whipping up recipes, making nutritious meals from the random vegetables the food bank happens to have this week. They just want to grab some canned ravioli and a bag of chips and go back to dealing with their physical ailments or rest up for another long day of work tomorrow. If they're lucky to find a job on the bus route and be able to physically work. |
Trump doesn't care if people go hungry or if their health insurance premiums double or triple.
|
| What do y’all think is going to happen? Is Trump going to try to swoop in like a savior on Saturday or let the chaos begin when people don’t have their food money. |
42 million people are not the "poorest and hungriest among us." Massive reform in the entire program is needed, starting with cutting the welfare subsidy to Big Food, which is what is driving this. |
| The democrats voted against paying the troops but now want the administration to take action on SNAP. I am noticing this. |
|
A federal judge is going to order the administration to use the emergency funds that Congress already appropriated for this:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2025/10/30/snap-funds-government-shutdown/ Just another example of lawless behavior by this administration, and absolutely dereliction of duty in the House of Representatives. If they won’t distribute the funds, I think all of the red state voters who rely on SNAP need to get up close and personal with their reps while they’re vacationing at home. |
you are missing the nuance of how "clean" the bill being proposed is. One party supports increased active duty benefits and strengthening the VA system and one party doesn't. |
|
JD Vance 2028:
"The suffering is going to get a lot worse." |
There doesn’t need to be a vote. The administration needs to follow the law that already exists in this case. And Dems do not oppose paying anyone that serves, militari or civilian. There’s no one home right now to make it happen. |
Did you notice Trump has sold off all the commissaries? The privatized commissaries are raising food costs for military families by 30%. You need to pay more attention to who is really screwing you. |
You deflecting MAHA sh!tsack. Yeah let’s definitely get our priorities straight. You are exactly like this bald-faced Brittany Hughes monster, fretting over the good people purchase at Walmart. You’re cruel, not high-minded, so sit down and STFU. |
+1. The whole thing is a fraud and people are finally waking up to it. |
So, NBC4 DC just did a story on people on SNAP considering giving up their pets. One woman interviewed estimated she spends nearly $400 on her dog. Seriously? I feel sorry for those who really need these benefits but something is terribly wrong when people on SNAP can afford to take on the expense of pets when you consider food, worming, flea meds, yearly vaccinations & care in case something goes wrong. |
