Because this is the DMV with CIA, DoD, Pentagon, etc. DCA was supposed to be relieved by Dulles but politicians who fly in and their constituents want the convenience of DCA. Thought we couldn’t hear either response so we don’t know.

No matter, night vision copter pilots didn’t understand that two runways exist to land from the south and didn’t have the depth perception to tell which plane was closer.

Messaging matters! Words matter. Especially when loss of life, and liability, is at stake.

IMO there is too much information coming out now which says, "Airliner collided with helicopter" when in fact, the helicopter collided with the airliner.

Is this some sort of back-channel attempt to place blame on the airline pilot/airline/air traffic controllers?

Even Hegseth said in his statement: "...a UH60...collided, tragically, with a civilian airliner." (:40 in his video)

If the SECDEF says Army helicopter collided with civilian airliner then headlines/news information should state that.

Headline should be,
"Army helicopter collided with civilian passenger plane, said SECDEF"

Two figure skating sisters from Ashburn were lost. I honestly cannot imagine a worse thing happening to anyone-spending your life raising two girls who are doing what they love at the highest level and then losing them together. These parents were taking them to practice 25-50 hours a week--it was likely their entire lives. I think I hope the parents were also on the flight-it seems kinder. I don't know how life can be so cruel. It's unfathomable.

The helicopter pilot was also a federal employee.

And, anyone who has been on a military base/post can tell you, none of those offices can run on only MAGA-approved people. None of those units are possible with only MAGA-approved people. Lots of good people in the military are earning their citizenship, have dark skin, are women, or trans. and are critical to the function of their units/squadron/office etc. They are feeling even more stress than usual.
