| I’m amazed by how many people seem to take pride in owning big dogs and will let you know that they don’t particularly like little dogs. What’s up with that? |
| Not trendy, I’ve hated little dogs since I was a child, and I’m middle aged. |
| Yes, I noticed that, too. It feels slightly offensive. The reason we got a larger dog was that he's my first dog and I was terrified of stepping on a small one by accident... irrational, probably, but there you go. |
Did you never see the Wizard of oz? Why do you think this is a new thing? |
|
Yes! People seem to feel proud that they can handle a big dog and seem to imply that small dog owners are wimpy. I have also heard the dogs referred to as rats, and other undesirable creatures.
I love my little dog, though, so who cares what other people think? |
Little dogs are usually yappy and annoying. What’s to like? |
| I've never particularly liked little dogs either, but I guess a little dog is better than a cat, though not by much. |
| I like dogs that are between about 12-25 lbs. |
|
It is a weird badge of honor people wear. Same with those who “hate” cats. I don’t really get it. I like all animals even if I wouldn’t choose all of them as pets.
Honestly, it’s probably sexism/internalized sexism. Cats and small dogs are associated with women and femininity and therefore on some level considered inferior. |
| I hate all dogs. |
| I like hot dogs 🌭 |
|
I don't like most of them because their owners rarely train them well "because they're so small!"
Aggressive dogs and neglectful owners bother me. |
| My family had German Shepherds and Collies, so I never imagined having a little dog. I love my 12 pound Havanese. Little dogs have a reputation for being nippy and yappy. My dog is not. He doesn't shed. He requires pampering and grooming. |
Same here. I really dislike small dogs. Love big mutts. |
| I have a 5 lb chi and people call it a rat, not a real dog etc. |
