If my DC is looking at Wake Forest, what are other similar schools?

Wake Forest is considered a slight reach for my DC. What are the comparable schools, and what schools are like Wake which might be less of a reach?

My dc was interested in eastern mid size research schools and ended up applying to Wake Forest, Lehigh, U of Rochester, and also tossed in Bucknell, and was accepted to all with a 4.2 w and 34 ACT. Decided on Lehigh and has been very happy with it.

Wake Forest is very southern, and can be surprising to those coming from the dc area. It’s a great school, but the student should definitely visit and be sure that’s comfortable before committing.

Honestly, the first thing I noticed on our tour is that all the students and faculty were white and all the custodians, food service workers, and even the construction workers around campus were black. It was really uncomfortable coming from such a diverse area.
