| 33 weeks and having serious pain when I walk. It feels like my lady parts are very bruised. What is this? What helps? Help please! |
| It might be that the relaxin is causing the two sides of your pelvis to come apart a little. I had that starting around 28 weeks with both kids (I have hyper mobility which I didn’t know at the time). Waking in a pool helped me some, but it also just seemed to have good days and bad days. By the end of each pregnancy, people seemed to think I was going into labor constantly because of the grimace I had on my face when I walked (and I walked a ton because I was 100% done). |
| That’s probably your pelvic bones separating. There’s a fancy term for it but i don’t remember. That happened to me starting 36 weeks and only went away after I gave birth. But holy hell it is the worst pain I’ve ever felt. I couldn’t get out of bed. The only thing that helped was a belly band that would hold my belly up. |
| I'm not sure if this is you, but I'll just toss out there that at around that time (maybe 35ish weeks) I started to have unbelievable pain while walking. Turned out I had SPD, which I had never heard anyone mention. It was an easy fix thankfully. |
| SPD PP here. The other two posters above me are also talking about SPD. There is a fix, though, which they don't mention. You lie on your back with your feet on the floor (so knees bent and above you) and then squeeze something between your knees for about 10 seconds. It realigns the pelvis. |
| Op here. Thank you for the responses and some tips. I’ll give them a shot. Ughh, this is awful. |
| OP I had this and it was horrible. I also lived in an area where the easiest way to get around was walking! Torture! A friend recommended I visit an Osteopath - I didn’t think it would do anything but was desperate enough to try anything. After 3 sessions I was totally fine and it never bothered me again. |
| Go see a prenatal chiropractor. It helped tremendously for my SPD. |
m Op needs to actually talk to her ob and not diagnose herself over the internet. |
| ahhhh good old vagina knives... |
| It could be new varicose veins around your pelvis and public bone. I developed these at the very end of third tri with my second and they were incredibly painful when walking. Not visible from outside; diagnosed by midwife. They went away immediately after birth. |
|
Definitely probably SPD. There was no 'easy fix' for me hahaha. Birth is the fix. But it can linger and if it hasn't resolved by 6 weeks PP you should see a PT (my advice as they helped me quite a bit).
I'm 9 months out from my third baby and its much improved but I can still kind of feel it. No more babies for me! |

I had similar pain, plus pelvic pain and the feeling like my belly was just too heavy.
A belly band has helped me so far. I got this one - https://babybellyband.com/ |

It could be SPD. I've had it since I was 18 weeks. I started seeing a pelvic floor physical therapist at 24 weeks. I'm 29 weeks now and things have improved considerably.
I recommend talking to your OB or midwife and getting a PT referral. A PT will give you excercises to do but also do hands-on external manipulation and provide advice for how to modify daily activities to make them less painful, like rolling over in bed. |

I also just developed SPD and pain/pressure walking about a week ago at 39 weeks and got the belly band below. I still have symptoms but this belt provides a lot of support and has made walking notably more bearable.
