Fascinating to find an opposing ruling from the recent Harvard law suit. Are the admission preferences so drastically different, or was it simply a different evaluating body? |
| The only 3 kids to get into Yale from our kids’ private high school in the last 10 years have been gay white males who were into theatre and wrote for the student newspaper. |
I mean, Yale has a wonderful theater program so I would not assume that this is some sort of reverse discrimination, but maybe a case of stated desire + fit. |
They probably didn't cover their tracks as well as Harvard did. |
| It's the Trump/Barr Justice Department, not a court. They're just pulling out all the stops to motivate their white supremacist base for November. The Trumpsters also joined the plaintiffs in the Harvard case that failed. Yale will reject the findings and the Trump will be out office before it ever gets in front of a court. |
| Pre-election MAGA pandering. |
| Oh, nice. I hope DOJ goes after other schools too. We all knew this right? |
Well we certainly knew they were letting in plenty of unqualified people once nyt's Charles Blow started bragging about his son being a student there. |
|
I went to a NE boarding school for high school with lots of smart, well-qualified kids of all backgrounds.
We used to joke that the Ivy League schools deducted 100 points from the SAT for Asian-American applicants and added 100 points for other minority applicants. |
Most of us knew, but everyone to the left refused to admit it. Reminds me of the the people claiming that diversity programs don't discriminate against white people. |
| There is so much more they are still hiding |
+1 Even though I am Asian. |
Unless you’re one of the kids that didn’t get in. |
?? We already knew this. But it's not illegal. |
|
“At Yale, we look at the whole person when selecting whom to admit among the many thousands of highly qualified applicants,” Peart said.
Here’s the trademarked party line from all universities on admissions. Disappointed the word holistic has been dropped. Is that passé now? |
