I'm curious about if your local (DC/MD/VA) daycare or preschool has had a Covid case or scare yet and if so how it was handled. Also, how many people (adults v children)?
No need to share a ton of details, I know everyone wants to stay anonymous. I wouldn't share info that gave away what school either, I get it! |
Daycare reopened in late May. One teacher tested positive at the end of June. She became symptomatic on a Sunday and tested positive Monday. Daycare was closed for cleaning for 24 hours. No other children or staff members were infected, to our knowledge. |
They didn't have her class stay home for two weeks? |
Daycare in Arlington, VA opened two weeks after allowed. No cases. |
Just a false alarm. A family member of a provider was sick with a fever and vaguely COVID-like symptoms. It was something else, though. Luckily the test results came back quickly because it did shut down as a precaution. |
Only one and they’ve been open the entire time. A part-time teacher tested positive. She had briefly interacted with a full-time teacher, so that teacher and her entire class quarantined for 14 days. That teacher and the kids tested negative, but the school requires them to complete the 14 day quarantine anyway.
The teacher who tested positive was sick for a couple of days and then felt fine. |
No. She hadn't been in the facility for the 2 days prior to showing symptoms so, supposedly, there was no need for anyone to quarantine. Not sure how this will work once everyone is coming down with colds, or even just a mild cough or the sniffles. With the pace of testing now, having anyone who has been in contact with someone who has even one symptom quarantine for two weeks, or until a negative test result, would likely mean shut down for most of fall/winter. |
Open since June and no scares. ::knocks on wood:: |
This is their 4th week open. About 40 kids and 10 teachers. Nothing happening on the covid front. |
Open since June no scares. I think it’s inevitable someone (parent, child, staff) is positive. They are very strict about no mixing of classrooms. If someone is positive, that class will be closed for two weeks and require testing to return. |
Ours has been opened since June 15. No cases. No scares. |
Open since may. No cases or scares. |
Open since June 8, no scares or cases (also holding school-age camp) |
+1 (knock on wood) |
Yes. Twice. Closed for a total of 3 weeks. 2 staff and 3 kids |
