Medaling is hardly a whimper. She was still the best performing USA athlete in this event and that’s even with doing a dismount that was easier and wouldn’t aggravate her twisties. Without her, the USA wouldn’t have won anything at all on beam.

The GOAT is going home as the fourth most decorated US female gymnast from the Tokyo games. For someone who sewed a goat into her uniform, that is a whimper

a silver
Not enough to be a legend. She will always be remembered for pulling out.
Not so much for her other accomplishments

It is a pity she didn't quit earlier. By quitting this late she took an opportunity away from someone else

If you know so much about the sport, please name who she took the opportunity from?

We all we wait…

I’ll help you….no one. She was the highest QUALIFIER. Meaning no other American gymnasts qualified/earned scores high enough to take her place. But we’ll still wait for your google skill to kick in.

+1 I don’t know why people take pleasure in minimizing her accomplishments. She has more medals than any other American woman ever.

I believe Victoria Listunova would have taken her place. I know I know, a Russian! But that doesn’t mean someone else wouldnt have taken her place.

I also don't understand why people need to tear her down, but I thought she was tied with Shannon Miller after getting her BB medal today?

On Tuesday, millions of people were watching to see how she would come back after days of not competing. But she was on the beam, alone and in her bubble, leaping and tumbling atop a four-inch piece of wood. She hoped to shoo away the demons for long enough — just for that minute and a half — so her Olympics would end on a positive note.

And she did.

“At the end of the day, we’re not just entertainment, we’re humans,” Biles said. “And I think people forget that.”

Going into the Tokyo Olympics, Simone Biles was already the most accomplished gymnast of our time. With her bronze medal in the balance beam final on Tuesday, she tied two important records in the sport.

Biles, 24, now has a total of 32 Olympic and world medals, matching Larisa Latynina of the Soviet Union, though Biles has more golds overall. Biles also has earned seven Olympic medals, tying Shannon Miller as the most successful American gymnast in the Games. Biles, though, has four golds to Miller’s two.

Miller, 44, earned her Olympic medals in 1992 and in 1996, the year when the Americans first won the team event.

Latynina, 86, competed when the countries behind the Iron Curtain were dominating women’s gymnastics. Between 1956 and 1964, she won 18 Olympic medals. She maintains the record for the most Olympic gold medals by any gymnast: nine.

Uh, no, she is at worst third-most decorated (Suni with a gold, silver bronze; Jade with a gold; Simone with a silver and bronze; MyKayla, Jordan, and Grace with silvers).

That is an amazing amount of medals for a single person. Go Simone!

Sadly, I agree. How disappointing.

She stayed in Japan because she was competing on the last day of gymnastics. The beam is the only event that doesn't involve spinning. It's interesting how people seem to forget that her issue impacted her ability to actually perform spins without the risk of hurting herself. If you don't know anything about gymnastics, then you are likely to make idiotic comments like you just did.

Plus, she is the team's leader and having her to encourage and cheer on her teammates was a valuable contribution. Most athletes would know that. Stop trolling and get out and participate in a sport...then you'd understand why she stayed with her team.

MyKayla has a silver that she actually earned. Simone has a participation silver
