A thread of optimism: why do you think Trump will win in 2020?

These are the same people who have claimed numerous times that Trump would wreck the economy. They claimed Hilary would win in a landslide. I’m a liberal and I’m starting to get annoyed with the liberal coverage. The weekly NYT article about the economy going south. I can’t help but recognize he’s gotten some things done.

+1

Media is doing its job.

Remember how they covered Bill Clinton? It was endlessly negative.

What I remember is eight years of obscene adulation of the Obamas, even when Barack deported millions of immigrants and provoked riot after riot.

Obama and his cronies certainly did provoke endless race riots.

There were no race riots

Oh yeah, there were at least a dozen violent blm riots, leading to hundreds more murders in Baltimore, Ferguson, Detroit....

Stop watching the Australian channel making the Australian a billionaire while you suffer for irreversible brain damage. The Australian, Russian and the traitor are together taking the rubes for a long ride.

You are certifiably crazy if you can't acknowledge even widely reported, obvious facts.

Stop watching whatever it is you are watching -- just my friendly advice.

Where are the obvious facts that aren't being acknowledged? Certainly not here.

You must be Russian if you don't know about the dozen BLM riots that took place here from 2014 to 2016.

You certainly didn't read any US newspaper or watched any US TV channel.

You must be a racist if you think Obama “provoked” the demonstrations.

YOU are the racist.

Compare how Macron is dealing with the yellow vest protests/ riots in France and how Obama dealt with blm protests/ riots here.

One worked hard to contain them and to channel them and to stop the inadmissible violence. The other justified them and promoted them and attacked the police.

How am I racist? Please explain.

Sure.

When someone criticizes the behavior of a President, instead of discussing the specific behavior you say the poster "must be a racist."

You seem to believe people must treat people differently based on their skin color -- ie, you are a textbook racist.

You wouldn’t be criticizing him in the same way if he were white. Racist.

BS.

I would say the same precise thing, racist.

For example, I can say that GW's invasion of Irak was horrible and disgusting and based on a fat lie.

See, racist?

I can also say that, while I appreciate many thing Bill Clinton did, his personal behavior in office was probably the worst of any President in many many decades.

See, racist?

The difference is he didn’t “provoke race riots”. You’re fabricating that because he’s black.

Biden was a Senator for 36 years and VP for 8 years.

He IS the "swamp"!

How in the heck could the Democratic Party make him the front runner? He's the problem, not the solution.

A constant liar, fraud, career con man and Russian puppet is the SWAMP. He pays no taxes, he praises and believes his master Putin over American agencies, just enacts extensive reality TV drama on immigration with support from the Australian channel.

The conman Trump with a avg approval below 43% and behind Biden in TX isn’t in good shape. Don’t say you don’t believe in polls because In over 30 years TX was never competitive for dems and NO dem candidate ever led in TX. Ignore the warning at your own peril.

Liberals: how can you stand this guy acting as your mouthpiece in every thread? How embarrassing.

Cons: how can you stand the liar, fraud , Russian puppet “precedent” as your twitter trolling mouth piece every day? How embarrassing?

Very well said. Idiots won’t listen though. F them.

I forgot his other catchphrases: "constant liar, fraud, career conman, master Putin."

Says the puff cakes who can’t handle anti PC post and say it like it is. It is the lazy twitter troll who introduced the name calling. Go tell him to do some work instead of the FT job of Twitter trolling.

Why can’t you write correctly?

Why can’t you ever respond to the post? Is English not your first language? Maybe Putin will pay for ESL classes, just ask him.

F the Russian traitors and whores selling their soul to the Russia traitor just because he harasses the brown refugees.

Seriously? Liberals, you own this guy ^^^. Hope you’re proud of the way he’s reflecting all of you.

Despite what you hear in the MSM and on this forum, Trump voters who previously voted for Obama are sticking with Trump.......

Voters here who switched from Barack Obama to Donald Trump are sticking with Trump in 2020....

What they're saying:

Tara Biddle, a 37-year-old kindergarten teacher, said although she's not completely happy with Trump, she'd only switch candidates if they picked up where he left off.
"I would be willing to vote for someone other than Trump who would continue the initiatives he's started" with the economy, tariffs and immigration, she said.
Others said Trump should be able to serve two full terms. "When I changed my vote I gave him eight years," said 62-year-old David R.
“He’s the best looking food on the buffet right now," said 28-year-old Matt G. about Trump compared to all the Democrats running for president.
They didn't offer much criticism. One man, 52-year-old Tim G., offered: "The only thing I would say, I'd like someone to get his Twitter account away."

The rest of the group agreed, but no one was ready to dump Trump.
They're not disappointed that he hasn't accomplished more: “The swamp might’ve been a little tougher than he thought it was,” said Vince K.
And their reaction to the Mueller report and the congressional investigations? A big yawn.
“You could investigate every president; they’re all shady," said Jessica G. "Let’s just move on and let him do his job.”

Anecdotes are a dime a dozen. Anyone can google and post dozens of anecdotes about TRUMP voters who aren’t gonna vote for him.

But more scientific polling data suggests that a majority of Americans have seen through his fraud, corruption, lies and reality TV presidency where everyone plays their part even when nothing changes on the ground.

DP.

Actually you are deluding yourself.

Polls show that most Trump 2016 voters are satisfied with his work so far, for reasons similar to the focus group linked above -- the economy, trade renegotiation, immigration, draining the swamp, judges appointed...

Whether that will be enough and whether he will be able to attract new voters remain to be seen. We will only see relevant poll data once Dems have a candidate and a platform.

“Most Trump voters”? Does that include the 79,646 voters who put him in office?

TX is competitive and Biden is up by 4. WHEN HAS THIS EVER HAPPENED IN THE PAST 30 PLUS YEARS? At no point was a democrat anywhere close to a republican candidate in TX.

You can ignore the polls and continue in your lala land. But the omen is right there.

It was statistically unlikely, but not impossible. Don’t you understand statistics?

It was a very narrow win — 79,646 votes across three states. Not sure I’d be boasting about that with an upcoming election...

It will certainly be a much different election. Potentially record-breaking turnout. Relying on those 79k voters might not be enough for you.

...still waiting! Eight people who talked with Axios is not a poll.

Meanwhile...

”After being briefed on a devastating 17-state poll conducted by his campaign pollster, Tony Fabrizio, Mr. Trump told aides to deny that his internal polling showed him trailing Mr. Biden in many of the states he needs to win, even though he is also trailing in public polls from key states like Texas, Michigan and Pennsylvania. And when top-line details of the polling leaked, including numbers showing the president lagging in a cluster of critical Rust Belt states, Mr. Trump instructed aides to say publicly that other data showed him doing well.”
