I'm getting bored with the whole dragging out of Jack's cause of death.

It had better be some big plot twist, because otherwise, I feel I'm done. It's getting more and more boring. That plot is the thin thread I'm hanging on to.

Yeah. It's dragging. Based on how emotional Kate was trying to talk about it I am thinking it was sudden and not a long illness where you have time to show all your love and start to mentally prepare. I think it will be related to drinking. Possibly even suicide when under the influence. Maybe DUI? Maybe drug OD?

I leaning toward the suggestion of PP upthread of DUI with Kate in the car. Probably while Rebecca's on tour. Maybe even not a DUI, but something where Kate feels she could have saved him, but couldn't-- got too tired doing CPR, couldn't reach him fast enough, etc.

When we start off the the Pearsons Jack is a blue collar construction worker. Suddenly he gets a job in project management and earns more money.

Suddenly Rebecca and Miguel are so wealthy?

Also how rich is Randall? He has a beautiful house, nice car and a hot SAHM.

Kevin is a millionaire?

What about Kate? Does she have a trust fund?

I'm thinking of Randall's desperation, Kevin asking "What would my dad do?" and thinking, maybe Randall would commit suicide like his dad? Maybe Kate found him?

He moved up the ladder to maintain a comfortable, not flashy middle class life. He sacrificed himself to his abusive father to get the down payment for the house that his boss discounted because he didn't think it would sell. It was also incomplete.

Miguel was higher up the project management food chain than Jack. It makes some sense he went on to bigger and better opportunities when he moved from Pittsburgh to the NY suburbs.

Randall is a partner at a commodities derivative firm. He's clearing 500k-700k before bonuses probably. Beth doesn't stay at home, although she said she recently went back to work full time (during the pregnancy scare). I think she is a lawyer.

Of course, everything is exaggerated for TV. Even the Connors in Roseanne were supposedly dirt poor, but who would watch a show with some super crappy house? Know what I mean. On tv middle class is always exaggerated, upper middle even more so.

Kevin was the lead in a network TV show for five years. So yes rich. Plus at that level they are bringing in freebies and other paid gigs. It won't last though.

Kate - I think Kevin floated her after the move to NY. I'd love to know what Toby does too.

Kate was Kevin's assistant. She doesn't seem to have much of her own. I'm sure Kevin took good care of his twin sister while he was on the show.

I'm thinking the dad's death was sudden. Randall doesn't seem to have any prior experience with a slow, sickness death like the one he's going through with his bio dad.

Did I miss why and when the Pearsons moved from Pittsburgh to the NYC area? Did Jack move too or die in Pittsburgh? Or is that something that hasn't been addressed yet?
