Record World at White Flint. They had a whole wall of 45" records. I specifically remember buying a copy of Hall & Oates' "Maneater" there- early 80's

The cheesy commercials for Dick Steven's Chevrolet in Wheaton. I found some of them on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onMXzujXiDQ

Theater Vision commercial with Joe Jacoby & Mark May: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeXHXoNPZj4

Shredder's Surf Shop at Wheaton Plaza

The Sunshine House surf shop at Lakeforest Mall

The County Seat

When "To Fly", the first IMAX film opened at the Air & Space Museum

When my high school (Sherwood High, Sandy Spring MD) gave students an excused absence to attend the Redskins SuperBowl parade in 1988 (my senior year in HS). And some of us actually did go downtown to see the parade.

Why were there so many surf shops back then for an area so far from the beach. Bethesda Surf Shop long sleeve t shirts were all the rage in my high school.

Who in here also held a backyard carnival for Muscular Dystrophy? For hosting the carnival, a friend and I won a free day at Marshall Hall (old amusement park....closed in 1980) complete with a boat ride to and from the park on the Wilson Line. That was probably 1969 in my Bethesda backyard.

Farrells, Giffords, Swensons, Hot Shoppes, Shakeys --- ah, the memories.

Who remembers the Christmas displays at Wheaton Plaza when it was still open-air? They had cute little houses with animatronic sesame street characters and elves inside --- remember?

And who remembers a kids clothing store that had a huge orange and blue playground with a tv and a slide? I remember running around on that thing with my sisters while my mom shopped.

Anyone else remember Trolley Car Pizza in Wheaton/Glenmont?

Little Tavern?

DH and I grew up here. When we give directions to each other the Trolly Car Pizza is often a point of reference. Down Ga Ave, a few blocks past Trolley Car. Friends who are listening have no idea what we're talking about. We also use Juvenile Sales as a reference point. And the other day I had to tell him to pick the kids up at Wheel A While. I tried giving him directions to Bounce U but he wasn't getting it. I told him Wheel A While and he needed no further instruction.

I worked at Pier 1 Imports in Bethesda from 1975 to 1976. There were some wonderful ladies from WJ and from BCC who also worked there. I went to Whitman. It was one block back from Old Georgetown Rd from McDonalds Raw Bar. That road no longer exists. Anybody else work there?

The building used to be a meat packing plant. The basement was still set up to process animals - kind of creepy working the basement inventory.

I recall going to matinee movies at the Baronet while in elementary school. It was located on Wisconsin next to the old post office, across from East West Hwy. Art deco style. It cost a dollar for the matinee.

Anybody else go there?

The old movie theater in Annandale on Little River Turnpike, near where John Marr intersected 236! There was also a Jack in the Box at that intersection once upon a time!

I remember those! I particularly remember an aqua blue pair that I unbuttoned and took off my girlfriend. She is now my wife of 31 years and mother to my four grown children. Thanks for the picture!!!
