TB treatment is being interrupted in SO many patients around the world. What does that mean?

When TB treatment is interrupted, patients are far more likely to develop drug-resistant TB, which is a catastrophe both individually (the disease becomes harder to cure) and societally (we're allowing the bacteria millions of new opportunities to develop further resistance). Many people will die.

TB meds have biohazard labels, none of these do.
IF that’s a warehouse in Congo (that’s where Kinshasa is) what’s preventing people there from distributing them?

100% not true.

Where do you think the money to distribute Foreign aid comes from?

As of February 2025, not the USA. No effs to give beyond that.

Have you ever been nice to someone to generate good will? Like at all. Ever. Did you see that movie Pay it Forward? That is part of the point of foreign aid. Be nice and feed people, help them. Once in a while, they may have your back.
Is it wasteful? Sure parts are, but you also do a LOT of good.

Have you watched the youtube podcast between Mike Benz and Tucker Carlson on what USAID has actually been doing around the world? Inform yourself. You're so far off base, it's hilarious.

Do you realize the silence coming from countries around the world this week with the cutbacks because they hate USAID?

Stop talking and start discerning fact from fiction.

The fact that you treat Tucker Carlson as a legitimate source of information is the tell here. Sorry, try something else that isn't an obvious Russian asset.

Carlson is a douche bag- no doubt about that. His douche bagness doesn't change the fact that USAID was doing a lot more waste than legitimate help.

If you are hungry and US AID fed you and the boat with your next meal is sitting in a port, yes USAID did a lot.

USAID has served useful purposes over the years and it doesn't necessarily need to be shutdown. Massive reformation is needed.

Fine, then reform it, but don't recall families in the middle of missions, don't leave drugs in boxes in buildings that are no longer guarded, don't leave food, already purchased, to rot in warehouese, and don't stiff the midwestern farmers.

I'm not in charge of reforming anything. Talk to your friend, Elon.

This PP is a great example of weaponizing “empathy”.

No we shouldn’t have to pay countries off to behave. Sending the US taxpayer money to a foreign country isn’t playing nice, it’s a shakedown and I’m happy to have it stop.

An intensified economy rivalry with China will be a hell of a lot more expensive, so yay!

We have infantilized these countries to such an extent that they lack the capability to distribute medicine and manage food supplies effectively. This reality highlights that our actions have caused far more harm than good.

It is weird that you label empathy as “weaponized” when you are asked to imagine having it.

The “shakedown” has contributed quite a bit to global stabilization. If you think globalization means the US can sit back and make everything here at home without depending on anyone, you have zero idea of how the world works. We are all connected.

Most of US AID staff overseas are local hire and they’re not infantilized.

Oh I get this- kind of like men are infantilized and can’t make dinner, take care of the kids, take care of themselves when sick or go to the doctor without reminders?
And yet, maybe both men and women get some benefit from marriage anyway.

This is the first major fraud I think has been uncovered from scrutiny of USAID.

- USAID has funneled $472.6 million through Internews Network (IN).

- IN has worked with 4,291 media outlets, producing 4,799 hours of broadcasts.

- Reached up to 778 million people.

- Trained over 9,000 journalists.

- Supported social media censorship initiatives.

- Offices in over 30 countries, main hubs in US, London, Paris, Kiev, Bangkok, Nairobi.

- Led by Jeanne Bourgault, with a salary of $451k/year.

- Board co-chaired by Richard J. Kessler and Simone Otus Coxe, Democratic donors.

- Launched a $10M fund at the Clinton Global Initiative in 2023.

- Operates at least 6 subsidiaries, one in the Cayman Islands.

- Over 95% of IN's budget since 2008 from the US government.

- Main billing location is an abandoned building in California

- Obvious money-grab and probably doing spook bidding for a long time.

That is phenomenal. Where is the media coverage?

What is the fraud? USAID is specifically funded by Congress to promote free and independent media in other countries. It's part of its mission to show the rest of the world American values like freedom of the press and free speech.

I asked this a little earlier. I think they're throwing around the word "fraud" without actually knowing what it means.

And there’s already an Office of Inspector General for USAID that puts out regular reports about fraud and waste investigations. There is already a function for this built into the federal government system, with independent IG’s who have actual training and experience.

Here’s one example, though it’s a bit vague as it only announced the launch of an investigation into Elon Musk’s Starlink, which has USAID contracts.

Great explanation! Extending an olive branch can also protect our own national security by promoting stability in other parts of the world (through support for democracy, health and freedom). Many people are misinformed and simply don’t understand the function of this type of soft diplomacy.

democrats are useless fighting this PR battle. It's all been defeating silence about the reports of wasteful and dumb spending so I guess it's all true.

You need to stop acting like Elon Musk and Fox News are reliable sources.
They are lying to you over and over again and if you keep listening to them, everything that's good about our government will end.

They simply aren't. If you want to hear about what USAID has done for our nation, look at what Republicans have said about it over the decades.

We all need to speak up if we support USAID. We can't leave it to Democrat politicians.

When the right owns the media outlets, it is hard to combat the lies and BS. The democrats HAVE been out thee trying to dispel the lies, but the media isn't covering it.
