Just received this photo from a friend of a warehouse in Kinshasa. These are tuberculosis medications--ALREADY PAID FOR--that aren't being distributed due to the Trump Administration's stop work order.
TB treatment is being interrupted in SO many patients around the world. What does that mean?

When TB treatment is interrupted, patients are far more likely to develop drug-resistant TB, which is a catastrophe both individually (the disease becomes harder to cure) and societally (we're allowing the bacteria millions of new opportunities to develop further resistance). Many people will die.

RFK is involved.

TB meds have biohazard labels, none of these do.
IF that’s a warehouse in Congo (that’s where Kinshasa is) what’s preventing people there from distributing them?

100% not true.

You are lying.

Medicines are not a biohazard.

TB medicines are labeled biohazard. They are 1 of 5 that are.

Nope. TB vaccines are. Not treatments.

Trump will take it apart and build it back better.

“Concepts of a plan” is all he has got as far as building.
No. He is a destructive force, not a generative one. He will take it apart and blame Biden for breaking it and be unable to build it back. Remember when he was off balance and couldn’t find the handle to open the trash truck? Like that.

Except, Project 2025 DOES have a plan and they will use the playbook.

Elon, with Trump’s permission and “authority” is the breaker. Then in steps Project 2025 with the “fix.”

everyone has to realize that USAID is one of the biggest wastage of US tax $s and at places that doesn't help US citizens directly and very hard to track. You don't know who is getting paid in the name of these programs, so I support cutting it down and then rebuilding slowly. This is one of the reasons that congress is not making any noise on USAID. They know that facts are much worse than the support work they carry around the world. This waste is going on for a long time and going to end now.

Every MAGA is suddenly an expert on USAID.

True. If Congress were to fight against this, those elected officials would be in big trouble when the corruption came out and they had to report back to their constituents. Especially anywhere outside of the DMV area.

True transparency is not cherry picking USAID initiatives but laying them ALL out on the table. Musk is not transparent and did not do this. He's a d*ck.

It is a tiny fraction of the budget with an exponential return. How on Earth are you people living in times of unlimited access to information and managing to get DUMBER over time?

Were you hypnotized or something?

+1. I think it is fair to critique where USAID money goes but cherry picking a couple (which actually came from State Dept funds anyway), misrepresenting the Politico piece, and then NOT reporting out the 99 percent remaining is not transparent whatsoever. If you believe in transparent government spending, Musk is not getting us there.

DP to add, treating TB in other countries does help US. The most recent TB case I encountered is a US citizen whose only exposure is travel and now has a version of TB that is resistant to some of the major drugs used to treat it.

It is airborne transmission and can be difficult to diagnose in active stage, misdiagnosed as cancer, sometimes too late before exposing others including healthcare workers.

-Healthcare worker.

If the left didn’t add so much bullshit in funds the department could do good things but then we spend $14 million for gender equality for climate change opportunities in Tanzania. Yep shut it down
